I largely agree with your comment, except this. Ukraine has been taken over by neo-Nazis who have been massacring innocent people, such as the Odessa massacre in May at the Trade Unions House where unarmed people were gunned down and then burnt in selected areas to make it look like they died in a fire. One of the dead was a pregnant woman who was apparently strangled to death by thugs who hung a Ukrainian flag out of the window after they murdered her. The government supporters were throwing Molotovs at the building, which is what started the fire. They were also shooting guns at the people who were trying to escape the building. All of this has been caught on video! You can even hear the screams and the pleas for help of the pregnant lady as she was being murdered coming from the window of the room on some of these videos.

The Ukrainian government has also been bombing civilian areas in Eastern Ukraine, reportedly using white phosphorus, as well which a war crime:

As for the plane, there is no evidence that Russia had anything to do with it, but there is evidence that the Ukrainian government and their goons are behind it:

We're being lied to by the corporate media and its war-mongering propaganda. The Western military machine is trying to start a war with Russia. Does that make Putin a "good guy"? Nope. But the West is far worse in what we do to people around the globe.
This is what I meant when I said I don't understand why Russia went into Ukraine. It makes very little sense for them to suddenly just get hungry for Ukrainian food. The news people have said very little.

Yeah, I have been suspicious that Russia is not so in the wrong about Ukraine as some people think. I think Russia is still sort seen as the anti-America. Not necessarily in the sense of being against America, but being a polar opposite. Incidentally, the security in Moscow airport was so much nicer than in any American airport I've been in :D
I still don't know much about it, though. Im reading some of your links.

Russia is being portrayed as our arch enemy (along with Iran) because they, along with China, are our main competition on the world stage. That's all this really comes down to. America, along with its Western allies, is an empire that wants to keep its power in the world. Russia threatens that, so they must be demonized and even destroyed if they can cook up a good enough lie to go to war on.

Russia is helping the Ukrainian people for strategic reasons. The current Ukrainian government is an anti-Russian puppet government that the US helped to install in an unpopular coup. (Yes, it is unpopular. The Ukrainian military is divided on this and troops are threatening to turn against the government.)

Yes, I have suspected this. Im not a nationalist by any means, so I have no reason to support the west over any other country. I simply don't like bullies and imperial behavior; which I am aware the US has been engaging in for a while.

I just wish we could all be excellent to each other

I am still not sure. I know someone who was in contact with someone in Ukraine. Leaving out the details of who they might be, I heard from them some Ukrainians were paid to be pro Russia demonstrators. I don't understand the implications of that, but apparently that is part of the story. Does it support Russia as an aggressor or Ukraine as an oppressor? Money exchanged hands, but why would they be willing to demonstrate against their own government? Why was money necessary to get them to demonstrate against it?

Unless they have actual proof, that's just a rumor. However, there is evidence that there's agents provocateurs among the pro-government demonstrators.

What is your Opinion about Vladimir Putin, the current President of Russia.

He's a dangerous clown - a glorified thug whose ridiculous antics fool people into thinking he's not a sociopathic narcissist with atavistic delusions of grandeur.

He destabilizes one country and is labelled evil and horrendous. The West destabilized half a dozen countries which have spawned their own fundamentalist armies and are now wreaking havoc throughout Africa and the Middle East. Hypocrisy much?

There are no such things as good and bad leaders in a moral sense. There are only winners and losers. If he wins, history will see him as good. If he loses, history will see him as evil.

He's doing what he has to do for Russia.

This.

I did vote for "good" though. Whatever his flaws, Russia would be far worse now , had he not taken power. The late Soviet-early Federation days were terrible for Russia and it was on the verge of becoming something akin to a third world country. Yes, he took dictator like power and probably rigged votes at times, but he saved his country, and for that, he has my respect.
