Was atheism invented?

But in science we don’t really do declarations.

Science sure does testing.

"Basically, the way we acquire information about the world is through measurement. It’s through instruments, right? And because of that, our measurements and instruments are always going to tell us a lot of stuff, but they are going to leave stuff out. And we cannot possibly ever think that we could have a theory of everything, because we cannot ever think that we know everything that there is to know about the universe.

First read up on evolution, you do not understand it. There isn't an ape one day and a human the next. It is very slow and gradual, like black via grey to white.
Humans didn't understand many natural things ... e.g. Thunder and lightening; earthquakes; eclipses; day and night; summer and winter; etc. etc. etc.
So the tribal elders created stories to explain such things. These people were admired thought of as educated and knowledgeable, they became priests and leaders, These people started the religions and soon it became a money making and power earning way of life.
Once these stories were started they led to religion and parents taught the latest knowledge to their children.

Here is evolution for you.

Imagine you could get a picture of your parents, their parents and so on back to 400 millions ago. Your great-great-great... grand parents who be fish. Did their parents teach them religion?

Aupmanyav, I have never ever believed, never was indoctrinated, and don't live in a bible-thumping environment. I only knew about the one (four?) books in a theological sense when I joined RF. All the things I know "about" abrahamic traditions are just academic. They have zero to do with what I actually believe and don't believe.

Unless you believe in Dawkins and believe atheism has more than one definition, I have no clue what you're talking about.
In that case, my apologies, Unveiled Artist. I erred.
As I said I have never read any Western atheist other than a small book of essays by Bertrans Russell. Yeah, there are many kinds of atheisms. Mine also is of a special kind, because I remain a committed Hindu, though I do not believe in creation, God, soul, life after death, haven, hell or any kind of judgment after death.

If God was invented by priests, then godlessness was invented by atheists? How is it better then?

An atheist Bob might reply: "By analogy, smokers have invented smoking; and who then has invented non-smoking? Non-smokers, maybe?"

Me in reply: "Non-smoking as well as a sober lifestyle was invented by the Ministry of Health."

Bob: "Atheism is based on the achievements of science and its evidence, and religion is based only on legends and blind faith."

Me: "Atheism is unscientific because the Supposed Death of God is not scientifically proven. Faith in Wikipedia is defined (with peer-reviewed references) as loyalty, faithfulness to Omniscience. After all, God knows everything.

What a bunch of ridiculous replies you have.

According to you prior to the existence of the Ministry of Health EVERYONE smoked and was intoxicated. How silly.

Theism is unscientific because the existence of any god is not scientifically proven.

Thus, the logic
1. parents teach the children theism,
2. Thus, there was always theism, because atheistic parents do not teach children theism.
3. If Darwinian Evolution disagrees with this simple logic, then Darwinian Evolution is illogical.

Cumulative knowledge.
Who taught a beaver to build a dam; an eagle to build a nest?

Please explain that, because what lead to religion as knowledge, since religion is not knowledge. But that aside, what was known before religion and taught by patents to the children, which lead to religion? And how did it lead to religion, if religion was always taught parents to children?

Thanks. I watched Dawkins a couple of times and a few others on Youtube and never watched it since. I guess RF desensitized me from really carring how other people justify their disbelief in god. I just thought it was a very simple thing. I get off the computer, do my work, and never think of a creator till I hop on RF and read the posts. I just don't get it but I haven't killed the cat yet.

Knowledge is a cumulative thing. It doesn't have to be correct. 'Trump won the election by a landslide' is knowledge and can be passed on.
Before religion parents taught children hunter gatherer skills, how to build shelter.
