We didn’t want him to be Christlike

You got me curious as to what's being legislated right now.

Anyways I'm trying to envision Trump with a harp, hymn book, and Halo.

Might be able to do for Trump what was done for Gaben of Steam.

That raises an interesting question. I wonder if Newell has ever thought about dabbling in politics.

"It’s about his calling for his position. We didn’t want him to be Christlike; he’s human like you and me. He’s made morally and ethically wrong decisions in the past and so have I. God uses flawed people to get the job done.”

Apparently a lot of GOP Christians find Christlike people to be such a "turn-off". Who knew?

After all, who cares "what Jesus would do", eh?

So here's the question: why don't Evangelical Christians want "Christlike" people in positions of power, as evidenced by their widespread and enthusiastic support for that paragon of saintly humility and godly purity Donald. J. Trump?

And if they don't want Christlike people in office, then why are they still so intent to shove their version of Christianity down people's throats by means of legislation?
The result one wants becomes God. We start with the result, deconstruct to the beginning, and based on biased desired result we Construct a reality to fit the result. Hell "science" and "religion" do that all the time.

Seems like its perfectly normal rationalising dressed up as rational. Is rationalising the same thing as rational? In This culture it seems to be a resounding yes. I think eddie nails it in society..

You also have to consider his positions such as moving the American embassy to Jerusalem. No doubt a sizeable portion of them see this as god's work, moving the world closer to the end times. If war is to break out over it, it's prophecy being fulfilled.

Like a whole different world for sure. I don't believe there is a place where Trump is popular. It's all just frosting on a turd.
I don't know where you live, but it's sure not rural USA.
Trump is very popular here, despite his contradiction of Christian morality which is also widely popular.
Supposedly.

There are quite a few members here who are always tripping over themselves to come to Trump's defense. Interesting that you've never noticed.
I know there are members who defend propaganda and manipulation but I suspect they are mainly doing just that. I am used to Russian propaganda. They do not give me an impression of caring about the matter itself.

Are you suggesting that some longtime RF members are actually Russian sock accounts? Now that's some serious ****ing dedication on their part.

Well, there is a sizable demographic that's religious and conservative, mostly within rural areas. They're how Trump got elected.

There's atheist legislation too.

God does use flawed people to get the job done.

Because it isn't politically expedient this exact second. Of course, any accusation that questioned Obama's Christian bonafides was gleefully embraced, and I bet a years salary that whoever the next non Republican President is it will amazingly be an issue once again.

I'm fairly certain that had Clinton won, her Christianity would be an issue, too.

But the difference between your list and Trump is that they were devout and Trump is not. Trump is not a Christian and never will be. He loves himself and money far too much for that.
