Weird things you like to eat.

What food do you eat that seems weird to other people? Im eating fish eggs. In this case, fried eggs from a crappie we caught.
I also love fried deer heart.

I don’t like a lot of salt, and I’m not fan of vinegar…. Put a bag of salt and vinegar potato chips in front of me and I will eat the entire bag

I've eaten some odd things... Snake is quite nice, puffer fish can be deadly if not prepared properly, it tastes like chicken.

Already mentioned is strawberries with black pepper and balsamic vinegar.

Spinach and peanut butter on rice.

Grated truffle mixed into butter then served on fresh crust bread.

Snail soup.. (well i do live in france)... you wouldn't believe how nice it is

Shark and chips (fries)

Faire chabrot. Not a food but a way of drinking soup. When served your soup drink about half then top it up with a glass of red wine, mix it in and drink it from the bowl.

I hope snail soup is better than it sounds!
More fish eggs for my supper today! Bass season came in and I went out and caught my limit of six. One of them was over 21 inches long.
Three had egg sacks that rival a chicken egg in size, so I'm cooking those up along with a couple of fillets.

Raw garlic. Aside from liking the taste, I found that the "burn" helps replace part of the sensation of smoking, so it helps control the urge to smoke. It also tends to give me an instant sense of well-being for some reason.

This time of year I start eating raw garlic several times a day because (theoretically) it helps keep mosquitoes and ticks from biting you.

Something unexpected that I found out recently is that raw garlic goes REALLY well with coffee. The tastes compliment each other wonderfully.

I've eaten cottage cheese since I was a kid. I find it's a pretty good base to use with fresh fruit or vegetables. Sometimes I just eat it with salt and pepper for added flavor.
On a hot day buttermilk with some freshly ground black pepper on top is really good. It already has the salt in it.

Some day I would like to try some real buttermilk. What is sold in the store is a sort of pasteurized yogurt. It is a cultured milk product. Usually 1.5% milkfat. Real buttermilk is the liquid left over after cream is made into butter.

I've been watching " fear factor" and it's funny what they make them eat. But a couple times they had stuff that the last generation ate just because they didn't like to waste anything. Pig snout and pig feets are things my Dad likes because it was normal food in his time. His brother always came over when we butchered and got the cow brains. I took a bite of brain once. It was just tasteless to me.

The scary part is all of that was normal food for my wife, she’s from China

It really does.

Also snails in garlic butter sauce, a french delicacy.

First time i had snails was in an full on English 5 Michelin star restaurant, billed as Heston Blumenthal's renowned temple to innovative Modern British cuisine. Perhaps one of the most experimental chefs he pioneered cooking with liquid nitrogen among other unique methods. His snail poridge was very enjoyable despite the name

I also like raw garlic, in fact garlic any way,

It is said to be good health wise its anti viral and is effective again many bacteria including e-coli, it reduces blood pressure and helps lower cholesterol.

Garlic is my friend.

Last weekend friends invited us to a perigourdine restaurant for lunch. Usually around here amuse-bouche is served free to keep you going until the first course arrives. It is usually some sort of hors d'oeuvres or other finger food. This place, in true perigord style went around table to table with a giant turine of garlic soup. Made with 2 or 3 bulbs of garlic per person.

Delicious. But the children (who were away so didnt dine there) stayed away from us for a couple of days says "mom, you stink" whenever we were within range ;-)
