Nice non-answer. The UK is a tiny little rock barely bigger than Vancouver island, but they have FIVE regions where many people feel so different from "the English" that people talk seriously about separatism. How is that for homogenous?

Go to NYC and you can beat that easy, more languages and races and cultures than you can count

It's the fact that if it were a western nation that held such sentiments, they would be accused of beimg radical and racist.

Thats because Europe isnt Asia. Different parts of the world actually have a different history and culture.

I know, amazing!

Again Japan(for example) was a highly isolated country. There simply were no foreigners to harass. And this never really changed. Its a homogeneous country for one people.
They are also racist towards eachother. Especially those barbarians in Kyushu.

And they were especially racist towards the Ainu. You know thats actually something to talk about. But then again its a historical problem.

Apart from that i just dont see the problem. There have never been vast numbers of foreigners in Japan apart from the US soldiers.
So the Japanese are racist towards people that arent even within their reach.
And most people they are racist towards are actually also racist towards them. So who is hurt? No one.

Oh, yeah, and while I was in Japan, the school I was at had a British teacher who said "arigato" in the most British way possible, to the point where a lot of the Japanese students actually spoke English with a bit of a British accent. ^_^

So, when it comes to bigotry, what specific elements or qualities make it excusable within culture A but not within culture B? Cultural norms shouldn't supersede reason, ethics, and integrity.

Exactly! Having lived in Cornwall and visited Scotland and Northern Ireland, I can assure you the feeling is mutual. :D

I saw a product in a shop the other day that said Made in Cornwall, near England.

The cheek! They're happy to take our coin though aren't they?

It would make my blood boil if their clotted cream teas weren't so moreish.

Lol - we used to joke on our rambles through the countryside that you're never more than ten minutes from a cream tea shop in Cornwall, no matter how remote your trail.
