What are your favorite breakfast foods?

I'm a big egg/potato/bacon person when it comes to breakfast. Eggs, prepared in just about any fashion, with hashbrowns or potatoes o'brien with a bit of cheese melted over them, and a side of bacon. Nice glass of milk to finish it off.

I really like french toast as well, but don't have it very often. Really should grab some Texas toast bread next time I go shopping. ;)

Beans, bacon and eggs on toast with a nice coffee.

Though I usually don't have time for that and so go with porridge with honey and usually a bannana, an apple and some grapes after with a cup of Earl Grey.

I love cottage cheese and a good bran muffin with raisins or apples with peanut butter. These sorts are probably my favorite - with really good coffee.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Probably my favourite breakfast is eggs benedict, though I don't have it very often.

Oh - and coffee. I do have that very often. :D

I love that. Although preparing the hollandaise sauce can be a bit tricky IMC.

French Toast or pancakes would be my second breakfast of choice.

Now I'm hungry........

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I love homemade yogurt with granola and (here's the bad part) a little maple syrup drizzled over it (or honey if I'm feeling like being a good girl) - with a cup of hot, strong coffee. Yum!

OH, I wish I could make something like that!

It's so easy you can't believe it.

Here's what you do:

Go buy a small container of natural, plain live yogurt. I get the greek kind - can't remember the name. Anyway, also buy a 1/2 gallon of organic, low fat milk and some honey. You may also want some raw sugar and some vanilla.

I also use a candy thermometer but you could do it without that if you don't have one.

Anyway, slowly bring the milk almost to a boil. NOT a boil - and watch it carefully so it doesn't scorch. If you use the thermometer, get it to 180 degrees.

Then let it cool to skin temperature, or about 100 degrees. When it reaches this slightly warm stage, stir about 1/2 a cup of the yogurt, and some honey and/or sugar to taste. You can add vanilla too if you want - a little goes a long way.

Mix this with a whisk. Then pour it into small containers - I like little glass jars but plastic containers work well too.

Turn on your oven light, but no heat. Let the mixture sit in the oven all night long. When you wake up in the morning you will have yogurt! It is SO much better than store bought - and you can now use your own yogurt to start your next batch!

You can make kickass granola from scratch too.

Here's how:

Get a cookie sheet out and spray it with light oil.

Get a big bowl out and pour in some raw oatmeal - as much as you want. Throw in some sliced almonds, some shredded coconut, some dried fruit if you want, raisins, craisins, whatever - and then add some brown sugar to taste (don't go overboard with this though). Sprinkle a dash of salt in.

Spread the mixture on the baking sheet and put it under your broiler in the oven, or on the top rack, at about 400 degrees, for about five minutes. Watch it pretty closely. Take it out and stir it up a bit and put it back under there for a few more minutes. You'll smell it toasting.

Take it out and put it in a big, plastic airtight container. It keeps well and is GREAT!

Will to love
I almost never eat a meal before noon, just coffee. At 10 am I'd love a fresh blueberry muffin, but almost never have a chance to have one.

But, I love all breakfast foods, esp eggs Benedict, granola fresh fruit and yogurt with honey, French toast or pancakes, hash browns, hoeveros rancheros ( not sure how to spell it, but eggs with chili sauce). Yum!

For the absolute simplest and quickest of breakfasts I go with a bowl of cereal (like Multigrain Cheerios or Honey Bunches of Oats) and either an apple or an orange. Maybe a yogurt if I'm still hungry.

My breakfast - if I'm bothered to have it - will usually be rice and/or miso soup. No, I'm not Japanese. I just don't particularly like the American breakfast fare. Way too much fat and protein, and I'm just not hungry when I get up in the morning so I need something light. If I am actually hungry enough, I'll take a real bagel + lox + cream cheese anytime. I usually eat that for lunch/dinner though, when I can actually get lox around here.

I almost never eat until afternoon too, but I also love a lot of breakfast foods.

Especially.................

WHOLE WHEAT PEANUT BUTTER PANCAKES!!!!!

Sometimes though, early morning I get this weird craving for fried yak. Only ever found one Denny's that served it too (and I suspect they were lying, tasted a lot like spam).

Since we have chickens who eat ridiculously expensive, organic feed I had better like eggs, which I do. But I like them with herbs, salsa or pepper sauce and cheese if scrambled rather than plain. Pancakes, waffles, French toast are all good, too. We eat a lot of oatmeal with peanut butter at my house and lots of fresh fruit from the farmer's market.
