What convinced you that Evolution is the truth?

You are in Catholic central so perhaps there is not as much rational thought when it comes to one's religious beliefs as elsewhere. I do not know of any by name, but are you implying a general lack of intelligence in all Catholics? I do not think that that is the case.

Excuse me: if a Catholic believes in Jesus's resurrection, why shouldn't they believe in Mary's perpetual virginity too?
Why do you think they should believe one thing and not the other?
It doesn't make any sense. ;)

Perhaps not. Quite a few Christians know that the Nativity stories contradict each other heavily and are just myth.
So you think maybe the Pope really believes Mary was not a virgin when she conceived Jesus? But may not say so because it would cause a bit of ta tumult. It is said by some that after Mary gave birth to Jesus, she and Joseph never had sexual intercourse and she was the perpetual virgin.

People can compartmentalize. Many people limit the number of irrational beliefs that they have. Your question was improperly formed.

Why wouldn't some believe that she was no longer a virgin (or even before, pregnant women not only have sex, they can be extremely horny at times) after she gave birth? There is nothing in the Bible that implies that she stayed a virgin. Joseph might as well have jumped on the merry-go-round. It was not going to make any difference.

Where did you get that from? I said nothing about the Pope's beliefs.

There are lots of Christians who believe Mary had children with Joseph.
Not Catholics.

I know no Catholic who doesn't believe in the Marian dogmas. If you know one, please tell me who they are.
:)
Ask around the forums here if those claiming to be Catholic are honest enough to admit their beliefs about that.

That is certainly what the Bible says, although many will deny (twist) it.
No, the Bible says that Jesus had brothers. At that time having more than one wife was allowed if I remember correctly. So he could have had brothers, but they may not have come from Mary. I am trying to give the other side the benefit of the doubt. I am not saying that is what happened for sure.

Because people won't read apocrypha.
In the Gospel of James, James says that he and other siblings are children of Joseph and his first wife.
I haven't examined the apocrypha but to put it as mildly as possible once a woman gives birth she is no longer a virgin. I will look into the apocrypha when I have more time. But now that you mention it, it is interesting that so many are confused about the Bible, and no wonder, also that the Pope says evolution is possibly true, among other things. Jesus was (is) a wonderful person and I am indebted forever to him.

I am not sure about that. If you are only counting the breaking of a hymen as ending virginity then many girls lose their virginity without having sex.

In other words, it would depend upon how one defines what a virgin is.

the hymen is broken. Since she was a virgin when she was impregnated with God's SON, her hymen was intact. Not when she gave birth.
But again, many young girls, especially those involved in sports or that are just physically active, can break the hymen without sex. Are these young girls no longer virgins? It think that your standard may be faulty.

Even more interesting, at least to me, is that it is possible to have sex and not break the hymen, thus by the "intact hymen = virgin" standard virgin births are not all that a stretch...
