I think the Dutch would disagree with you.
The US military had no input in the makeup of the political system of post-war Europe - if they'd had their way, most of Europe would have been ruled by a string of single-party conservative puppet regimes like Japan, Taiwan or South Korea.

After all, what could be closer to freedom and equality, than a foreign military occupation that caused massive civilian death tolls, combined with the brutal rule of corrupt military warlords?

The US military has never brought anybody freedom and equality who wanted it, except perhaps rarely by sheer accident.

I'd imagine if they really wanted it, they wouldn't need the military.
