What do atheists have to say about incidents like these?

I also note that this Indy Star newspaper also reports on haunted restaurants on their front page. There seems to be at least a dozen of them in Indianapolis.

Especially considering the fact that most cases like these usually have multiple credible eyewitnesses.

Children possessed by 200 demons 'levitated' and walked backwards over walls in front of hospital staff | Daily Mail Online

A nine-year-old boy walked backwards up a wall and ceiling as startled medical staff looked on after his mother claimed he and his two siblings had been possessed by demons, according to official reports.

The unlikely-sounding event was detailed in official documents after a child services case worker and a nurse both said they saw the boy 'glide' backwards on the floor, wall and ceiling.

Both were shocked to see the boy apparently float after their mother had been subject to months of scepticism when she claimed her home in Gary, Indiana, was haunted and all three of her children were possessed by demons. Listen to exclusive audio of the demon here

Latoya Ammons said her 12-year-old daughter also levitated in the home, and all three of her children showed signs of being possessed including 'evil' smiles and unnaturally deep voices, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Miss Ammons' home was officially exorcised by a catholic priest who said the ceremonies were officially authorized by the Diocese of Gary.

Police also observed strange goings on at the house and a captain of the city's force has said he 'is a true believer' that the house is haunted.

After a string of apparent paranormal events at the house hardened police officers - including the local captain - even declared themselves too frightened to stay there after nightfall and numerous city officials refused to go to the property.

Mother-of-three Ms Ammons, 32, said she was only rid of the spirits that haunted her family's home in Gary after she moved away and underwent multiple exorcisms and police dug under the house to check for graves.

The Indianapolis Star obtained hundreds of pages of official documents and carried out more than a dozen interviews with police, the Department of Child Services, psychologists, relatives and a priest to uncover the bizarre details - which seem like something straight out of a horror movie...
Nothing paranormal about those.

And it was even recorded on video.

"What do atheists have to say about incidents like these?"

Why bring in atheists?
The thread title implies that if atheists have no explanation for an observed phenomenon, it's evidence for a magical, supernatural cause, presumably involving God or the Devil.
This would make it a false dichotomy; a black or white error.

Do theists have any "explanation" for this, besides 'Goddidit!' or 'the Devil did it!' ?

Presumably only atheists can be skeptical of so-called supernatural. ;)

So... just because I address atheists in this thread means that only atheists can be skeptical of the supernatural? Your logic is extremely flawed, and it repeatedly shows.

It was a joke. Sorry if you didn't get it. I think it's helping atheists though. They see theists believing stuff like this, "calling out atheists" and it helps reinforce their viewpoints. I see it working against theism. Believe what you want about that.

Your logic is extremely flawed, and it repeatedly shows.
Well you say so, but I say you're being naive.

What documents/pages are police officers reporting that they see levitating kids?

That’s no more an explanation than “Magic Space Pixies did it!”. There’s no singular definition of what “demons” means, no definitive evidence that anything labelled “demon” actually exists and no evidence at all that anything labelled as “demon” is responsible for any of the events or incidents depicted in these reports. You’d need to add a whole load more detail to your proposed hypothesis for it to be worthy of any kind of consideration.

Those aren't really "incidents".
They're reporting of alleged incidents.
When something particularly astounding is claimed to happen,
I want more than claims from friendly sources. How about
Smithsonian, Popular Science, or Scientific Americastanian?

A few thoughts here:

- if it was faked, it wouldn't be the first time. Elaborate hoaxes do happen sometimes.

- at several points in the story, it talks about weird things waking people up or happening late at night. This raises a suspicion of hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucination.

- why did you direct this to atheists? The story talks about demons, not gods.

I see it as false. I only take things into account based on how I see the world and experiences. I don't see articles and other things as truth confirmed. Everyone has their experiences. There are ghost watchers and people video tape to find spirits in haunted houses.

Is there a reason and logic to believe demons exist? Have you experienced a demon to validate it'd existence?

Well, first off, I would wonder what constitutes "credible" eyewitnesses. The police reports you linked to later on in this thread only detail what others told them, such as these witnesses who claimed to see this. Maybe they were lying; maybe they were on drugs. Or maybe they're just crazy. Without any hard evidence to prove this happened, it could be just about anything.

And even if the events did happen as described, it doesn't automatically prove possession by demons. If we're going to imagine various possibilities of what it could be, then one could just as easily suggest that this family and the others involved in this incident are subjects of a government experiment.

Maybe the kid got hold of some secret experimental anti-gravity shoes which allows the wearer to walk backwards up walls - and the government wanted them back, so they concocted this whole "demon" incident as a cover story. (It may not necessarily be our government; it could be the Russians.)

You know of documents that prove the earth is flat? That’s amazing.

But I was referring to police, hospital, and child service records.

"That's amazing", were the exact words I used while suffering through your sad attempts to prove the Earth is flat. Now, after locking up one thread with that absolute nonsense, you're back again proudly displaying more of your total lack of credibility. Even Fox News found it difficult to remain "fair and balanced" in reporting this tabloid sensationalism. What's next, the real spaghetti monster?

Although I believe these things can happen, this I find incredulous.....

“Ammons said that she was not financially in a position to move so instead had to endure the terror.”

Why? Move outside! Sell the TV, and buy a tent, blankets, and a heater.

This kind of thing tells so much about
whether to believe anything our "theist"
friends say, especially in regard to how
credible their reasons for belief in "god"
are.

It is like a "believer" is someone who,
just,, believes. A farmer farms, a
swimmer swims, a dentist dents, a
believer believes.

As long as he evidence is either non-
existent or comes from the least reliable
sources available.

Now, if it comes from that devil driven,
mainstream, consensus based
secularist atheist "science", that is
another matter.
