What do you do with missing evidence? Like the global dirth of mid Jurassic fossils

 I give up. Again that was sarcasm/humor. Like saying heat goes North.
It didn't go anywhere. There never was that much water.

Sometimes.... it is needful to include the tag "/end sarcasm" when the sarcasm is of such a finely distinct quality, that one cannot tell it from comments from someone who is ... somewhat deficit in his/her educational achievements.

I have always maintained, that to be more accurate? We really need to invent a Font Style, called SarcastaFont™ that one may employ on occasion, as needed.

Oh, I know-- Comic Sans is often used in this way-- except that sometimes? Some folk post comments in Comic Sans, and they are mistaken for sarcasm...

... when the author was being serious!

I sometimes wonder: Are the notes for Donald Trump's speeches all printed in Comic Sans? Or do they just admit defeat, and print everything in all-caps, Block Text?

Yeah I agree sarcasm is hard to pick up on in text :)

see Journey to Jurassic Island
Vertebrate life in the Middle Jurassic - from around 174 to 164 million years ago - is poorly studied because of a relative lack of available fossils, yet it was a geological epoch of critical importance as a time of major transformations.

OK 11 million years... with what a University of Cork archeologist called 'a global dearth of mid Jurasic fosils'
Sorry, but archaeologists don’t study dinosaurs, whirlingmerc.

Archaeologists study only humans and human activities.

Those people who do research on animal fossils including dinosaurs, are called palaeontologists, and their study of fossils is referred to as palaeontology.

What would an archaeologist know about Jurassic period?

Dover is world famous for its iconic geological feature – The White Cliffs – of gleaming Chalk rock, the very symbol of England, and, likewise, the poem ‘Dover Beach’, with its opening line…“The sea is calm tonight, the tide is full and the moon lies fair upon the Strait…” by …

    T he white cliffs of Dover are composed of a variety of protist fossil shells, including coccolithophores (a type of algae) and foraminiferans. Their process of formation took millions of years: After these protists died, their shells were deposited on the bottom of the ocean in a fine gray mud;

The Jurassic Coast is in Dorset; Dover is in Kent, which is mostly Cretaceous. There is no such place as East Dover in Britain.

I should have said South-east..

Dover - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dover
Dover
is in the south-east corner of Britain. From South Foreland, the nearest point to the European mainland, Cap Gris Nez is 34 kilometres (21 mi) away across the Strait of Dover. The site of its original settlement lies in the valley of the River Dour, sheltering from the prevailing south-westerly winds.

Tell us all about how fossils form and geological processes, won't you, Mr.Engineer?

If you want the classic creo cant on that,
I can tell ya. Fossils form from millions of
animals being suddenly buried by a global flood.
All geological features are caused by the
hydroplate event, all current processes are
the result.

There are PLENTY of Jurassic fossils.

Jurassic - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jurasic
Important Jurassic exposures are also found in Russia, India, South America, Japan, Australasia and the United Kingdom. In Africa, Early Jurassic strata are distributed in a similar fashion to Late Triassic beds, with more common outcrops in the south and less common fossil beds which are predominated by tracks to the north.

I am pretty sure our Opster has fled the interview.

There are many fossils from the beginning and end, there is a dearth in the middle 54 million years.
Perhaps the time scale claimed is just wrong.
Dearth does not mean none.
What is the point of making such idiotic claims? Why does whilrlingmerc do that?
He is an engineer and a creatinist, and he has patents. Thus, in his mind, he cannot be wrong on any subject.

That is an important detail!

God tells them what is right.

Being found to be wrong on even the
smallest thing is like unto a little hole in
a taut balloon.

No extravagance is too great to prevent
that.

Indeed.

I have noticed this for some time (about 20 years). Creationists, regardless of their education, background, etc., all share (with very rare exception) this trait - an utter inability to admit to even trivial error. I have actually witnessed a creationist admitting what you imply* - he claimed that he cannot be wrong on (whatever it was we were discussing at the time) because if he admitted he was wrong about that, he might have to admit being wrong on other things. Can't have that.

It is easy to observe on forums like this. One recent example - how justatruthseeker had declared, in his zeal to undermine the relevance of molecular phylogenetics, that courts of law compare entire genomes "loci by loci", the implication being that because we do not generally do this in phylogenetics, we cannot trust the results. Then, doing 5 minutes of research, I found documentation for what I intuitively knew - that such a claim was 100% BS. But providing the documentation did not matter - the creationist just continued on declaring his claim correct. And then deigned to ignore the subject completely. That is the YEC way - never admit error, just ignore it all in the hopes that it will go away, then make the same bogus claims later (or elsewhere).

*oh, for the wickedness of computers - had that and hundreds of other YEC gems archived, only to lose them all during a syncing operation gone wrong....

I've picked out some very small obvious mistake,
carefully chosen to be irrelevant to either side of
the discussion, and tried to get a concession of error.
I never have succeeded.

an utter inability to admit to even trivial error.

Twined with that is the mandate for intellectual
dishonesty; it is simply impossible to be both
an informed and intellectually honest yec.

A rare insight, that your acquaintance is aware
of his cannot-be-wrong problem. Perhaps
he will recover.
