What do you teach your children?

That is one way to look at it. Here is another.

Let us say you are into body art. You have hoop earlobes and a plate on your lower lip. Can you work anywhere you want?

I know that is extreme and homosexual people are not generally different (other than sexual preference) than people that conform to the norm. They should not be discriminated against as far as work and such but they are at times.

Interesting. I may be wrong, but it looks as if you're wanting to pick and choose the rights/protections of homosexuals. Thoughts?

I keep myself and my children away from it. I don't have television either. This everybody is ok crap is not promoted in my home.

What will you do if one of your own children turns out to be homosexual,
and falls in love with a partner of his/her own gender?

Will you banish them from your home, and from your life?

keeping the outside world out,
will not change what comes from the inside.

Love and attraction comes from within.

It is interesting. I find that people that act outside of social norms have some real issues. We (those who act within social norms) conform to society and it's norms because we want to get along in life without the issues of those who take their own path. When we have any issue with anything outside of the norm we are intolerant and prejudice but that is not necessarily the case. We have busted our ***** to maintain and prosper just to have someone come along and get protections because of who they sleep with? Gay rights? Get with it.

I am not wrong I am 100% correct and if a person wants to succeed in this world they will conform, somewhat to social norms. Some of the people here act like me and mine have to live like they want and treat them exactly like everyone else. Well that is part of the problem. Don't push people to accept things and you may find that you are more accepted.

At present I do not socialize with any openly gay people. I am not avoiding it, they are just not around. Now on television every other show has a gay in the cast of main charters. I don't see this in everyday life but it is on TV?

People telling me that I need to do things different where my children are concerned is a problem.

And once homosexuality IS the social norm?
Once homosexual marriage IS the social norm?
Once body piercing IS the social norm?
(hint: Slavery, long skirts and sleeves for women,
voting only for men, women as mens' property
were all once social norms here in the USA)

Hiding away from people
and social trends,
hiding away from life,
will not make it go away.

Just because you refuse to "see" it,
just because you shield your own eyes,
and the eyes of your children,
does not mean it's not there.
It doesn't mean the "norms" of YOUR preference,
will not 'become' yesterday's atrocity.

Working anywhere I want is not a basic civil right. Heck, it is not even a right.

Did you bring that up in order to highlight how people do in fact have the right to discriminate in personal or patronal matters? That is true enough, but not really what we are talking about AFAIK.

I know that is extreme and homosexual people are not generally different (other than sexual preference) than people that conform to the norm. They should not be discriminated against as far as work and such but they are at times.

And that is a good reason to question social norms and weaken them. What are your arguments in contrary?

Do you realize that there is a contradiction above?

I am not. I believe everyone should have the same rights. Now in business this may not be doable for many people but I cant really see any issues with sexual preference causing issues.

I don't keep it out. The reason I don't have TV is honestly the rampant commercialism. This adds the benefit of more control as well. Also I get sick of the what would you do aspect of things that get brought up and I will leave it as that because I have answered it before. This is here and now not the future.

Social norms change and most of my post about it will be a non issue if they do.

Also I do see it because it is pushed in my face everyday.

I could say stop shoving things in my face but the fact is homosexuals get it shoved down their throats every day from those who think it is their duty to end homosexuality. I am not one of those people. I don't like it but there are a lot of things I don't like and what others do is there business.

I wont expose my children to anything that can (in my view) negatively impact them. Drugs of any kind, alcoholism, foul mouthed people, a long list. I kicked my father out of my home for drinking when he was not to be.

In what specific ways, does homosexuality get shoved down your throat every day?

You never answered the question about your own children.

Also, I don't have television either.
It's an unnecessary expense, and a time/creativity waster.
But between the library and the internet,
We can get a whole host of TV series and movies.
Some which include homosexual characters,
and some which don't.
(as well as many other types of people/characters-
ie, old, young, white, black, asian, hispanic, smart, stupid, cute, hot, homely,
tattoos, no tattoos, piercings, no piercings, blonde hair, red hair, purple or green hair... etc etc etc....)

Then we can watch them at our own convenience.

Look at your posts? If I were to watch the news (can't though) I would have to hear about how there is going to be a gay rights day or gay pride week. It is everywhere and I will not say it is wrong but I don't like envisioning the homosexual act. I don't care what people do and never really have it in my face all the time causes issues.

This is all by choice that I see these things so I just separate myself from as much of it as I can. Might be why I don't hang around her for prolonged amounts of time.

And gay marriage, then? Same rights and protections as straights?

Preformed by the state yes. Preformed in a Church by a preacher no.

I do not think people should work in a communal home and be punished when one dies. They should share the rights granted to heterosexual people.

Thanks for clarifying, Archer.

What REALLY is everywhere is straight marriage and partnering.

Do you envision straight people having sex every time you come in contact
with any husband and wife/boyfriend and girlfriend?

Either way, that's just psychologically weird.

Who imagines couples having sex,
any couples having sex,
just because they show you their wedding ring,
or they invite you to their wedding,
or invite you to their shared apartment for dinner?

Trust me, there are MANY heterosexual couples
I would not care to imagine sexually.
That does not mean I need to avoid them
in normal life/societal contexts.

When you see something different than yourself it can impact you thoughts.
