Nuff said lol. I certainly wouldn't want to be in a fight with Mr Michael Foley.

Seriously I think it's hard to define macho in this day and age though.

I think another way of looking at macho would be looking at strength of mind.
To me Churchill was macho.
He saw that something wasn't right and put into place measures to stop it.
I could hardly see feeble mr blair being able to cope the way that Churhill did.

I've always thought of macho as a guy trying to dominate over one another, a.k.a. p*nis envy. I live in the South so I see a lot of this, especially when it comes to a guy's truck. lol frankly I think it's old and outdated.

"Macho" is a normal part of southern European cultures. Most North Americans easily associate it with Spaniards, Italians, Greeks, and so on - and it also extends into France, the former Yugoslavia, etc.

Me, I love it. I find men without it, no matter how they look physically, unattractive.

I define "macho" as the assertive display of masculinity.

I have nothing against it. I mean, some men like to show off their manliness as much as some women like to show of their womanliness. Some of it does go a little too far, though. For instance: Pro-wrestling. Or football games.

When I think of Macho I think of the time when I was a tower climber. All of us guys would work all day in the tower then at night we go out drinking and raising hell. When we walked into an establishment we would swagger in like we were ten feet tall and bullet proof. That I would say is Macho

I suppose I can elaborate by sharing what what I believe demonstrates my husband's "macho" quality.

Firstly, it's in the united face we present to those outside our marraige. When we're in public, especially with my family, he's always very attentive and very socially dominating. He has no problems telling me to make sure I'm home by a certain time, or insisting he sits higher than me in photographs, and my family appreciates and respects this - it's the type of thing families want for their daughters.

He also opens doors for me, is generous towards me, and all those sorts of things that also come with a "macho" quality. I think the true sign of a good man is someone who, by their very nature, makes you attracted to them. I want to rip his clothes off and ride him down a set of stairs just as much as I want to cook for him, and look nice for him, and dance with him, and all of that.

That's what says to me that you've got a macho, macho man.

If they're just dominating, or cross over into abusive, then they're pathetic. They have low self esteem, all of that - and that's very unattractive to me.

So how would you actually define it, Mila. To me, it's artificial masculinity built on the notion that a man has to be constantly proving his manhood by physical superiority.

That idea exists as well for us, but I think the extreme we label with that description would be off the charts for you.

I'd define it as masculine confidence.

Every town in this part of Europe has it's own... thing that men do to prove their masculinity to single women. In Mostar, for example, they jump off this:

It's just... expected.

The animalistic practice of asserting your alpha male status over the weak omega males. Nothing wrong with it IMO.
