As Will Rogers once said, "I don't belong to any organized party; I'm a Democrat".

Actually I have voted Republican and for an independent candidate at times, but I'm reluctant to do that unless there's a Democrat running whom I really don't trust (frankly, I don't trust any politician anyway, but some I trust less than others). This was a voting technique I adopted from one of my political science professors way back when, who said that it is better to vote for the party than the candidate in most cases.

His rationale is that it is the party that mostly determines the platform, and their candidates are well aware that if they want to get support from others in the party. Trump is obviously somewhat of an exception to this rule because most Republican voters are madder than hell even with their own party, but even he tow's the Republican line on most issues.

Voting just for the candidate tends to turn the average election into a popularity contest mostly based on image rather than substance.

Oops, gotta go for now.
Yes, but can you vote for an ex-Socialist ?

Bernie is still a socialist, and I am planning on voting for him in the primary. Can you?
When I say an ex-Socialist I mean he ran for elections as a Socialist. He is running for President as a Democrat. I am not sure yet whether I will vote for the Bern. It may be a waste of a vote. It might help the Repobos in the general election. Socialism hasn't been so great for Europe. The Bern may not be the "right" Socialist. What's a lib to do ? :)

Actually socialism has been great for Europe otherwise they would have long ago gotten rid of it. However, not all socialism is alike, and I much prefer it Scandinavian style, which Bernie also models his on.

First we have to see whether Bernie can get the Democratic nomination, and that's a very iffy proposition, needless to say. If he were to get it, then it boils down largely to whom may run against him, and that's another iffy proposition. If it's Trump and he were to win the election, I plan on swimming the Atlantic to go live with my Swedish relatives.

He's running as a Democrat because it's so hard to run as a third party and get your name on the ballot in all 50 states, and he's probably very aware that if he ran as in independent it would give the election to the Reps. In a state election it's very possible, though unlikely, for an independent to win. For the presidential election, the only realistic way of winning is to run as a Dem or Rep.

The State of the Election as of Today

My nightmare is the idea of a Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton as President. But that is my personal view.

Obviously, I am a Trump supporter, and make no bones about it, I have become outraged by the Cruz campaign and very disturbed by his connections to what is religious cultism and the entire Glen Beck loony sect.

What do I want? I want to see a Trump - Sanders election bid. What do I want regarding the outcome at such?

I want whatever the American people decide after that. I will accept whatever they decide, Trump or Sanders.

But as far as the state of the election today, in regards to the Republican nominee, I watched the Trump Town Hall live on CNN tonight, then quickly switched over to the LIVE Stream: Donald Trump Special Event for Veterans in Des Moines, IA by Right Side Broadcasting, one of many streams and I watched on CSPAN as well, and all I have to say is, this thing is over, Trump is going to win this.

In fact, a whole lot of Democrats called into CSPAN not just Republicans, and they are voting Trump. And as for the Republicans, anyone who watched this thing instead of the debate, let me just put it this way... any Cruz voter knows they just lost a lot of votes to Trump. I have no idea how many watched, no doubt hardly any from RF, it doesn't matter, I think a lot did however and we will know the truth by Monday as to viewership, but this was a seminal moment, even outtakes are going to make it real and John Wayne Walding who appeared on stage was fantastic. This is likely a game changer that can lock it in for Trump.

By the way, I just saw a poll that said Trump won tonight's FOX Republican Debate and Trump wasn't even there, he was in Iowa at that Town Hall for the Veterans.

My gut on the Democratic side is Sanders is going to win as Hillary implodes. Even Biden came out again as if he just might get back in it, though he has no chance since he is now having a hard time remembering people's names and I am not trying to make lite of that as he is obviously starting to have a problem, but it only speaks to the fact that for him to even suggest such a thing means he knows something and Hillary is in big trouble though he may not be able to recall Hillary's daughter's name or Trump's name or who is the Speaker of the House or what time is lunch, but the word is there is probably going to be a recommendation for indictment.
