What does demon possession mean to you?

Ah, 'conversion disorder', 'hysteria' in the good ol' days─ or the possibility of it.

It's not clear to me that labeling certain fad or fashionable social behaviors, sayings, slogans, songs, as 'memes' gives us any new handle on them should they become a problem. What am I missing?
Yes, conversion disorder is a symptom.

Would you rather we go back to calling memes and memeplexes - demons or spirits like in the old days?

Except it's a fact that demonic possession does not exist. It exist as a belief because at one point in time we had a very limited understanding of human psychology, mental health, and we knew absolutely nothing of neurochemistry or how the different regions of the brain operate us. Having a grand mal seizure is frightening for all involved, even with a physiological explanation. But go back thousands of years, and you see someone suddenly fall over and begin to violently convulse, and when they come to they remember nothing of it, spiritual forces seem a plausible explanation when there is no other possible explanation available.
I have been searching the scientific literature and not one paper to be found that is proclaiming verification of the existence of telepathy, psychics, demons, possession, esp, Bigfoot, fairies, Dracula, Nessie, telekinesis, astral projection, clairvoyance, remote whatever or honesty and compassion in Donald Trump.

Demons are non-beings. How does one prove the existence of non-beings?

Oh. I see. That is the problem. Non-beings have non-evidence. If we ever figure out what any evidence that doesn't support something else, must be evidence of demons that are non-beings. It is so simple.

It is not something that has any evidence to support and show others. It is a belief. People can claim it, believe it if they want to waste the time, but there is no reason for anyone else to believe it. Maybe all of the so called demon possessions that aren't attributable to mental illness are the result of Maude Johnson a human housewife from somewhere in the multiverse. It is as good an explanation as jumping to demons and I have all the same evidence.

So there is no evidence of memes or memeplexes? Dawkins is wrong?

Wouldn't the idea of a demon be a meme? If it is a meme, does that make it an independent entity? Aren't demons supposed to be independent entities?
In order for a demon to be an entity is for it to have a host. Augustine thought they had no being of their own and owed any being they had on living parasitically off a human host
