I've seen the five pointed star used in several applications with regard to religion or practice, from the five wounds of Christ in Christianity (many in the south adorn their house with one), to the elements in Neo-Paganism (the pentagram), to the five points of felicity in Freemasonry (also the pentagram), to Sigil of Baphomet in the Church of Satan.

What does the five pointed star mean to you?

It has no meaning for me whatsoever.

The specifics really depend on context but in general I view it as representing the elements. Pointing upwards it portrays the elements in a light, positive and creative role. Pointing downwards it refers instead to their dark, negative and destructive role.

What it doesn't represent to me is good and evil. Destruction for example doesn't necessarily imply malice. Things need to end and those endings can be beneficial. This is why I mentioned that context is important.
