The Devil's Advocate
This is such an obvious question that my guess is that it's already been asked in another thread and is burried in the recesses somewhere. My apologies if so.
I am fascinated by people's chosen usernames. I imagine that there is an interesting story behind many.
lilith has been a part of me for well over a decade now, perhaps a decade and a half. When the internet first started to come into general use, there were newsgroups similar to our forums, and also these online interactive "games" called MUSHes (multi-user-simlated-something or another.) It was all text - a far cry from the Sims online and other interactive games today. I had just learned the story of Adam's first wife and was fascinated with lilith. The world's first woman was also the world's first feminist, and much more interesting than either Adam or Eve. So lilith was my avatar, and took up residence in the virtual world of the Sprawl. (Does anyone here remember Sensemedias' Sprawl?)
At some point lilith needed a surname. I wanted one that reflected my Chinese heritage but also meant something more. I settled on 'hu', which is a not-uncommon surname, but phonetically can also mean tiger. The tiger represents the feminine principle in Taoism, the yin. It is equal to the dragon, the yang. Tigers are also feared and mistrusted in Chinese folklore. They get a bum rap, just as lilith did. And plus, I just like cats! :jam:
As I write this, it strikes me that I come off as quite the feminist. Must be subconscious because I did not feel the need for such an overtly pro-female avatar. What I was really responding to were characters that are misunderstood and wrongly maligned by society. I have always had sympathy for the devil.
Anyway, lilith hu got shortened into lilithu, which is how you will find me in just about every online forum that I've visited.

So please, how did you come to be who you are? I'm just dying to hear your stories!
