I think the TS, in a round a bout way has started a quite interesting discussion (apart all the silly antogonising from various people). ISIS exists, how big are they, how scary, how powerful? I highly doubt they are as dangerous or as monstrous as the media makes them out to be. My biggest issue is, are they a group of Muslim extremists or something else entirely? Who is funding them? Who has armed them? Who has trained them? How have they managed to set up one of the most sophisticated media and social media centers in the world, by the name of Al Hayat? This sounds like more than just a group of university rejects or love-lorn girls.
If you watch interviews from a number of ISIS captors, who managed to get freed, almost none of them can identify them as a Muslim group. Didier Francois (I hope that's the correct name), a french journalist captured and subsequently freed by ISIS, in an interview with CNN said that they didn't even have copies of the Quran and wanted to talk more about politics and geography than religion. What kind of religious extremists are they? They don't even carry copies of their own religious text, which they supposedly quote to justify their actions.
These are all things one should contemplate.
