What I dislike about some of the posting habits here

This post showed up on my screen in a tannish brown. It doesn't show up against the grey background as well as black does.
I like color, and it is crucial to my professional life. But it is not helpful to reading.

I have to agree. Cutesy, pink, preteen text is particularly annoying because of its greater lack of readability. I often pass up such posts.

Aye....makes one wonder if RF's purpose is to issue warnings rather than encourage civil discourse.

I suspect it is easier to issue warnings to instances when uncivil discourse happens then it is to give brownie points otherwise. With that noted, how exactly does on encourage civil discourse? I'm sure the forum could use any effort in that matter.

Infrequent & accidental violations need only an alert.
Civil discourse is best served by all of us encouraging it.
Difficult & subject to objections as it can be, we can all do our part.
And staff can set a better example at times.

The public orgies certainly aren't lending much legitimacy to their example.
Those are actually good ice breakers for friendly discourse.
I'm thinking of when they flagrantly violate rules.
We look up to them as parental figures, & want so much to emulate them!
