God doesnt torture anyone. Why do people repeat things that aren't true?

Because there's no evidence for you to hold up to show that they're wrong.

You can't even demonstrate that your God exists. You're a long way from demonstrating that God has created an afterlife for people, and even farther from demonstrating that he isn't a cruel jerk to people in it.

So you think speaking lies is good.

Sure I can. Beyond that I have repeatedly told atheists if they could do just one thing I would immediately cease belief in God. That's not an idle statement like atheists make in the opposite direction.b

But the Bible says God did it.
Who wrote the Bible? Certainly not God, and not even the Prophets. Men wrote it.
Why should we believe that what men wrote came from God?

When was the Old Testament written and who wrote it?

Composition. The first five books—Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, book of Numbers and Deuteronomy—reached their present form in the Persian period (538–332 BC), and their authors were the elite of exilic returnees who controlled the Temple at that time.

Do you think lying is good?
Or making bigoted statements about
people you dont know?
Answer truthfully.

The best part is you arent required to believe in hell. Too bad that won't prevent you from ending up there. Good for you for being so "smart".
Belief won't prevent you from ending up there.
There is simply no objective source providing
the criteria for entrance or denial to either
Heaven or Hell...or any other after-life existence.
Baptists might be denied Heaven, but atheists allowed.
Mormons might be denied Heave, but Muslims allowed.
So it goes.

Sure theres an objective source providing the criteria.

Scripture is clear not everyone who claims to believe will be in heaven and not everyone who doesnt believe will be in hell. It's not complicated.

You & I have different definitions of "objective".
Scripture is clear not everyone who claims to believe will be in heaven and not everyone who doesnt believe will be in hell. It's not complicated.
Whose scripture?
Muslim's, Christian's, other?
How can one scripture be rationally shown
to be right, & the others wrong?

It Aint Necessarily So

Yes, I know. I don't know if you have that option, however.
A fictitious character can't do anything , you get that right?
Belief in one can and often does significant harm to the believer if he makes decisions based in false beliefs.
Too bad that won't prevent you from ending up there.
That's for you to worry about, not me.

And that's also for you to believe.

My beliefs in God haven't done me a bit of harm. I can honestly say they have brought me great joy. A significant change occured in my life when I started to pay more attention to what God thinks of than what other people think of me.

Faith-confidence in what we hope for (Hebrews 11)
I can't imagine it'll make any difference if and when I "know" if I'm right or wrong, but it certainly makes a difference in the here and now.
Isn't that why death might not be so bad after all...because in life there is doom, disaster and destruction. But in death there is nothing.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
You know what I'm going to do? Do the best I can and let God sort things out. I do believe there's a God and I've chosen Christianity but I would bet as I've said many times that we're all in for some surprises, and personally I'm OK with that.
