My brother raises beef cattle (grass-fed Parks) and allowed the butcher to talk him into turning some of one steer into beef bacon as an experiment. It could not in any way shape or form be considered equivalent to or even anything like pork bacon. It did work well in a stew, however, and properly seasoned, worked well enough as gyro meat. You don't know what it is like to have beef bacon forced on you. Not as an option, just the only available supplement to an otherwise delightful meal.
You've never known hardship.
(and don't get me started on chicken sausages)
