What is the meaning of life?

Let me ask, and translate however you need to, why do you need a meaning to your life?

To those who are the exception of the rule, why would you feel others need a meaning to life (be nice please)?

Also, can you live without this meaning or does this meaning define your life?

Or, do you think people can live without a meaning without loosing their sense of self in the process? (Be nice and introspective)

Obviously, we are here in order to have our sexuality scrutinized by a supreme, albeit judgmental deity, and then to be rewarded or punished after our deaths by the same deity, and according to whether or not we believed in life that such an appalling deity could even exist. What else could the meaning of life be?

We each give life our own meaning, there is no universal meaning of life IMHO

The acquisition of copious quantities of frubals, which are the currency in Heaven.

There you can buy 3 halos for a 'like'; a large fluffy cloud and a harp cost 1 'winner', and you can get Thor to zap one of your enemies with a lightning bolt for 2 'friendlys'.

Other than that we are just animals like the rest of Earth's inhabitants. :bactriancamel::hatchedchick::monkey::cow::dolphin::walking::pig::whale::poodle::snake::tiger:

From the atheistic standpoint NOTHING within the universe has any meaning, everything is a blind and worthless creation of chance. Life is simply the result of an accidental biochemical reaction that is an infinitesimally small flash in time that means nothing. It is ALL really just a great cosmic joke.,

The question has a presupposition built into it thus it's telelogical in how it's constructed. To reflect that circularity I would respond " the meaning of life is to ask what is the meaning of life". That is the correct response to a kind of self reflective question spun in on itself.

Without it I wouldn't have many reasons to stay alive, and plenty to not.

Also, can you live without this meaning or does this meaning define your life?

I can't, it defines my life.

I'm sure plenty of people can, I'm just not among them.

That is completely wrong and incorrect.

Do you have meaning in your life and if so, why do you need one?

If not, why would you feel others need a meaning in life?

No generalizations. No personal negative bias. Just your opinion or belief about why you need a meaning in life and if you dont (which is okay. That doesnt mean you poped out of no where;no biological chemicals) why would others need it?

Its Why people need a meaning of life whether for yourself or others.

Not What the meaning of life is.

What does it mean to be "the exception to the rule," in this case?

People need meaning to life because of the great importance they place on identifying their "self" as the mental entity: the acknowledgement that this entity is impermanent and will not persist indefinitely requires that the brief time it has "to exist" have meaning.

Also, can you live without this meaning or does this meaning define your life?

One can live without a meaning to life--all it requires is divvying the world in such a way that the mental entity is not significant. One way might be to acknowledge the impermanence of literally everything (everything that is divvyed). It could mean, for some, losing (letting go) of a sense of self, but it's really not necessary to let go of any part of the world.

True.

One of my first religious thoughts years ago was Zen. Attaching meaning of life deated the purpose of living. Cant figure how to explain it while in transit but do you think that having a meaning in life is counterproductive in an overall ense even if it helps the person?

Exception meaning when people post hreads there is always someone that says "but I think differently." Or they want an Other on the multiple choice. Gets annoying.

I don't think any part of the world is counterproductive. That's the pragmatist in me.
