What is the relationship between faith and reason?

Please let me know what you think.
In case you ever have time to read the Catholic view on this:

"Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth—in a word, to know himself—so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves."

Faith is hope for a better tomorrow. Faith can be based on real circumstances and completely possible.

Reason is being aware of the possibilities which can be based on mathematical constructs.

We need both to accurately predict what will actually be realized.

That's awfully "lyrical". You can add that to a song. :band:

To reason, is to find evidence for your belief. To God ,having faith and being faithful are essential. Scripture has it;

"Faithfulness has disappeared, the word of God is gone from their speech".

"Open up the gates to let in a nation that is just, one that keeps faith".

They will be my people and I will be their God with faithfulness and justice".

"I will restore your judges as at first, and your counselors as in the beginning; After that you shall be called city of justice, faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed by judgment, and her repentant ones by justice.
Rebels and sinners alike shall be crushed, those who desert the LORD shall be consumed."

" A branch shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and a shoot from his roots shall blossom. The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, A spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and the revere of the Lord, and his delight shall be the revere of the Lord. Not by appearance shall he judge, nor by hearsay shall he decide, But he shall judge the poor with justice, and decide aright for the land's afflicted. He shall strike the ruthless with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked. Justice shall be the band around his waist, and faithfulness a belt upon his hips.

Reason is being aware of the possibilities which can be based on mathematical constructs.
But faith isn't hope. Faith is belief without sufficient evidence. Faith may engender hope, but they're hardly the same thing.

Faith can be "based on" (?) reality, fantasy or on nothing at all.

To reason, is to find evidence for your belief. To God having faith and being faithful are essential.
I think you've got it backwards, Oak. To reason is more to analyse evidence and come to a reasonable conclusion based on this. There's no a priori belief involved.

Denial of anything actual isn't faith, it's denial.

Faith is conviction independent of observation, not in conflict with it.

Not necessarily, although that is quite often the case.

Faith can also be adjusted to fit observation and reason.

Very good.

I was going to say that reason feeds faith.

I would call that belief. Faith is belief with trust; a trust that doesn't admit doubt.
I'm not sure anything I trust is with certainty. Most supposed knowledge is about 85% to 95% certain with little doubt but the doubt is there. Faith and doubt are in degrees and relative to one another.

edit: just to add, faith and doubt are both making presumptions without enough knowledge.
