What is the true 7th day Shabbat?

How sure are we that the current Saturday is the true 7th day Shabbat. I pose this question because of the teaching that surfaced on "lunar Shabbat" Although I have some answers but I would like to know how you handle this question. I believe many of you in this forum have done a lot of study on "lunar shabbat". Lunar shabbatarians claim that the saturday observed by the jews IS NOT the CORRECT shabbat. they say that the weekly shabbat must be reckoned from every New Moon. By the way, what is our proof that saturday is really the 7th day shabbat. How come the Gregorian 7th day coincide with the Hebrew calendar 7th day of the week. I appreciate a lot your answers.

I believe every day of the week is a seventh day if one counts from seven days ago. I believe one should forget the letter of the law and reflect on the purpose of the law instead which is to provide a rest day out of every seven days..

Yes I agree, but for those who are still under the letter, the Sabbath is Saturday.

Saturday is the seventh day, that's a know fact, the Jews themselves have kept the Sabbath for thousands of years.

I take it you were there and know what day that was? I believe the Jews just picked a day but I don't have any evidence. Maybe God told Moses what day it was. At any rate I don't follow anyone but God and that means Jesus to me.

I believe that reveals the problem. The Passover and Good Friday are often on different days because the calendars are different.

Well everyone knows that Jesus was said to be taken down from the cross on Friday before sunset, I am sure you can wok out the Sabbath from there.

If you did it from a new moon, would that not mean some weeks might be shorter or longer than six days? And why should it start afresh on each new month?

Oh, wait, Jesus said the Sabbath was MADE for man, not man for the Sabbath. In other words, it's so we can have a chill day, not of any cosmological importance.

I agree that the Sabbath was made for man, but the fact is that the Sabbath is Saturday, Jesus himself kept it, he was taken down from the cross before the Sabbath began which was Friday before sunset, this is when the Sabbath started, sunset Friday, to sunset Saturday, he then was resurrected on the first day of the week, Sunday.

Their calendar is a lunar calendar and not the same as ours.

Our calendar is lunisolar; months are calculated by the lunar cycle while years are determined by the solar cycle.
Our days run from sunset to sunset, and a week is seven days. We have 12 lunar months in the year, with "leap months" occurring in a cycle to keep pace with the solar year.

If you're a Jew, then Shabbat runs from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. If you're not a Jew, then your sabbath can be any day you choose.
