A "father" gifted his daughter....................................
"The Lancaster County Amish couple accused of gifting their teenage daughter to a Bucks County man who is also charged in the case will all stand trial after a ruling by a district judge Tuesday."

Take a look at this twisted "fathers" picture.
He even looks creepy.
Another corruption of Christianity.
Wonder if he goes to church and passes around a basket of rattlesnakes?

What? Me worry?
I guess a fruit basket and a thank you note was out of the question...go figure...

This is (literally) very close to home for me. It's been on the local news for a while and I'm actually heading to Lancaster for a show tonight. While the Amish usually don't do anything but make us nice baked goods and grow us veggies, I guess sometimes they fly off the rail a little...

I am unaware that what this man has been accused of has any relationship to the religion of the Amish (which I guess is Anabaptist). I'm skeptical that this is a religious topic.

What? You mean you can't "gift" a child anymore? What is this world coming to?
I mean seriously, what ever happened to marrying off our daughter to secure land deals with neighboring kings, or brokering peace treaties? It worked, didn't it? What's the big deal? It's so much harder now that children can't be considered assets to barter with anymore? How can we ever hope to secure the peace with Warlords now? :(

A revolting ode to better bartering......

To pay back a debt a guy ought'r
remunerate not with his daughter
She's not legal tender
(no matter her gender)
Just trade'm a draft horse or trotter

Forgive....I never had a chance to use "remunerate" in a limerick before.

Sad what?
How some fundamentalists can bastardize the Bible.
Just look at Islam, the religion of peace.
Miami? Boston Marathon? Twin Towers?

I see nothing wrong with Islam or Muslims. It's the crazy ones that are disturbing.
Christianity is also guilty of religious crimes.

We Christians have the Westboro Baptists that preach hate.

Just google up the Westboro Baptists for some terror accounts in the name
of Christianity.

Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) is a Baptist church which is known for its hate speech, especially against LGBT people , Catholics (anti-Catholicism), Muslims ...

Before you start beating up on Christians please quote Jesus Christ or the Apostle Paul made concerning this being a Christian thing to do. If you can't then all you're doing is hating on all Christians because this guy claims he is one.

Yup.

Sounds like he might have been trying to emulate one of god's favorites: Lot.

Lot speaking:
(Gen. 19:8).
“Now behold, I have two daughters who have not had relations with man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you like; only do nothing to these men, inasmuch as they have come under the shelter of my roof,”

.

They reported that members of the Amish community were present during this hearing. Has anyone from this Amish community spoken out against this or might this be a common practice they try to keep silent about to outsiders?

As far as Christians go, the WBC are moderates compared to "mainstream" denominations. Despite all their hateful rhetoric, they've never committed a single act of physical violence against anyone, and they've never tried to deny legal rights to their opponents.

They picket soldiers' funerals, but they don't kill anyone. They don't lead their own army into war or carry out terrorist acts.

They rail against LGBT people, but they've never once tried to block a same-sex marriage bill from passing.

Groups like the Southern Baptist Convention and the Catholic Church have done much more harm - both total and per-capita - to their opponents than the WBC will ever do. If the WBC is a hate group, what does that make the rest of Christianity?

The Apostle Paul supposedly said:
Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing to the Lord.

You make sound and valid points however you paint with a very broad brush
indicting "the rest of Christianity".
About 32% of the worlds population are Christians.

See the "demonstrators" with hate speech signs.
"God hates Queers", "No tears for queers", "You're going to hell", "Not blessed just cursed".

I'm not even going "there" with respects to crimes committed by the Catholic
church.
That said the W.B.C. also has it in for Catholics.
