What is wrong with those people that believe their book is eternal truth?

As for the question in the thread title:

What is wrong with those people that believe their book is eternal truth?

It depends a lot on how strictly they take that idea and how much room for adaptation to changing circunstances they allow.

I find it particularly strange that some groups that insist on the belief on a Creator God who is supposedly the source of all that is valid in existence also find scripture such an overpowering thing that they do, in effect, deny the validity of human discernment and effort.

What exactly is there to like? Islam stopped being relevant after the 13th century, exactly the time when they decided they're going to pick an arbitrary point in the middle ages and stay there. It's truly sad, they used to represent an enlightened culture...

Islam itself means slavery, and I was born with my own mind and my own two feet to stand on. If I was born to kneel why would I have legs? If I was born to be a slave why can I argue? These concepts refute anything to do with dogmatic religions in general. If Allah, Jehovah, or JC are all powerful then why can I just do what I want? It's easier to program a robot than deal with a spirited horse...
Be that as it may, I still believe Chrisrians are much, much worse. I really despise all Abrahamic religions, Christianity alone is responsible for the deaths of millions, now let's chalk that up with the deaths caused by Judaism and Islam, then we have a number thats ridiculously high. Not only do they kill, but they poison the world with destructive and hateful dogma. So, I see why Islam is ****, but what I'm getting at is that all Abrahamic religions are pure bull**** that has killed many, many, many people, not just Islam.

Also, the post starts off talking about the Qur'an, when the exact same could be said about the Bible and Torah.

And I have already replied, a person who defends killing hundreds of thousands of innocent
civilians is immoral, are you Islamist?
I sort of agree with you, because my moral says killing civilians is bad. The invasion of Iraq was a humanitarian disaster and caused uncounted loss of life although genocide wasn't a goal in that war, but certainly those who lost civilian family won't find any help from that.

The problem is this huge hole in their rationale that bypasses the question of "which book?" and allowing theirselves to be convinced that the experiences that prove god to them are demonic experiences when they happen to the believers in other religions. Really, it's an organized religious approach to the ancient idea that one tribe's shaman is another tribe's sorcerer. Collectively, we need to realize how silly that is. It's almost on par with two people getting water from the same source and one, or both, of those people believe their water is superior and the other's is poisoned.
There is nothing wrong with it. Most the people on this planet believe the sun rises in the east instead of the earth is spinning towards the sun. They simply aren't seeing the whole picture, but there's nothing wrong with that. Most of us don't see the whole picture. The universe and the thousands of beings and lifeforms within it are in a perfect state ... of evolution. It's all His dance.
And we would be much more than we are now if every last person has no doubts about the Earth spinning around the sun.

It is a common error that comes from ignorance that thinks Christians worship the Bible. I have never heard in 40 years, anyone pray to their Bible or asking the Bible to save them.
I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God’s Holy Word, I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path and will hide its words in my heart that I might not sin against God.

Christianity has chilled quite a bit, at least as much as you can when you think you know everything. The Israeli Jews murder Palestinians and various Muslim "insurgents" based on religion as well. Really, Islam and the Israel in particular are the worst of this -- current high scores on the murder counts. Islam is literally spread by killing... The Stockholm syndrome of living in an Islamic culture makes them accept the abuse, and then dish that abuse out on others. Christianities sins are in the past mostly, and you have to be sensible with that since anyone living now had no involvement at all. Your argument is that we should blame present day Spain for Christopher Columbus' genocidal tendencies; it's obviously silly to do so.
