What is wrong with those people that believe their book is eternal truth?

Christianities sins are in the past mostly, and you have to be sensible with that since anyone living now had no involvement at all.
While I don't disagree with that, I do feel most people think it is "comfortably in the distant past," when in reality it has not even been a full century since the last Religious Fanatic went on a murderous parade throughout Europe, fueled by the ambitions of God and Country.
American current events aren't reading like a bad distopian novel, it's beginning to read like some of the nightmares from history, and Trump is hardly more than symptom. It's been getting worse for some time now, and rather than turn to themselves, people have been so thoroughly divided they turn to all sorts of false prophets, charlatans, and lunatics. By the end of this century, I doubt the America we know survives, and unless we want to survive our entire system, from the bottom up, everything from resource management and education to politics and global relations, everything has to adjust and accommodate the realities of today. Such as, people don't want to admit manufacturing jobs are a thing of the past, nor do they complain our education is designed around industrial models, models that worked in the past when our society was an industrial society, but we are post-industrial and need to rethink many things.
