My opinion is based solely on the word of God, which clearly states that Jesus is coming again, and there will be a judgement of the living and the dead. Judgement will be based on the deeds done in this life. The good news is God offers forgiveness through His Son Jesus for all of us. We are all sinners. God gave us the wonderful gift of free will. You cited the story of God asking Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac. You see, Abraham believed in God so deeply that he knew God wouldn't let any harm come to Isaac. Abraham had the love and trust God desires. And that's what it's all about. If we love and trust God with all of our hearts, we can overcome anything, including sin. Peace and blessings,

I understand that. I come from a very christian background and have read the bible cover to cover multiple times. I know the doctrine.
But any god who would ask a man to kill his son is not a moral being. It isn't about trust, or loving god. No one should ever ask that of a person. It is simply a despicable and terrible thing to do. The idea that a god would make man choose between god and his offspring is horrific.
I just recently watched the movie Dumb and Dumber and their pranks remind me of this passage. Tell your friend that you need a kidney and after he offers, after much thought and deliberation, to give you his; you inform him that, 'I was just messin with you!'. The mental anguish you are putting someone through in asking something so dire, it is just wrong.
