What is your best evidence for a god?

I personally don’t feel I have sufficient evidence to warrant belief in a god and I am genuinely interested to discuss what has convinced people that there is such a being.
I have lots of evidence to warrant belief in a God (not in god, though)

I have also evidence that when I tell you, you disbelieve me
So, I guess it does not make sense to share my evidence

Well, as a skeptic the general answer seems to be that most people have beliefs, which are not warranted as with evidence, proof, truth, logic, justified reasons and so.
So my guess is that you have such beliefs about the world. They are just not religious.

Your argument is nothing comes from nothing therefore god.

it went beyond that. Maybe I should have said the ‘finely-tuned forces holding it all together’?

Matter wears out, energy doesn’t (it simply changes form); what's the original source of energy? When physicists turn energy into matter, is there form to the design, or is it chaotic?

Evidence is a strange thing. I dont think anyone could provide evidence for God. Maybe reason would do.

I am a Muslim and in my theology the Qur'an which is the criterion says to "Afalaa thaekiloon". Akal mens "reason" or your reasoning prowess. Quran questions you and tells you to use your reason.

Thus though a lot of people would be dogmatic, I would like to think I use reason. I dont think it could be explained so easily.

One of these reasonings in my thought is that the universe is expanding at an exact rate with the exact length of a radius as Hawkins and Roger Penrose point out in order to avoid the "Big Crunch" and the beginning of the universe to now if it was left to chance the chance of us surviving now is almost nothing. The probability is 1/10 to the power of 10 to the power of 123.

For some, this is not a good enough reason to believe there is a consciousness in the universe that directed this kind of precision, but I do.

Oh, grief. I partly quoted you. You don’t remember your context?

I do. It seems as if you don't (or didn't understand). I was comparing two scenarios, one in which we just don't know why the universe exists, and one which imagines that a (particular) god created it but we don't know why the god exists. Both have something for which there is no explanation but the second has a baseless guess too (that a god created the universe).

But we don't know that there is a natural universe as natural in itself.

[/quote] But of vourse
Jehovah said that he would have witnesses for his name and that they would preach in all the inhabited earth and then the end would come. The very fact that Jehovah has raised up witnesses for his name as he promised to do and they are preaching the good news of the kingdom in all the inhabited earth is proof of his Godship.

You are my witnesses,” declares Jehovah,
“Yes, my servant whom I have chosen,
So that you may know and have faith in me
And understand that I am the same One.
Before me no God was formed,
And after me there has been none.
I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior.”
“I am the One who declared and saved and made known
When there was no foreign god among you.
So you are my witnesses,” declares Jehovah, “and I am God.

-Isaiah 43:10-12.
Why is not the worshiper of any god, any supernatural being, not a "witness" to that god or being?
Jehovah, the God of the Bible raises this challenge to all the other gods out there:
There is only one God of the bible, the Jewish god Yahweh.

However, the nature of that God becomes confused with the NT, and categorically changed in the fourth century CE when the Christian God was made triune, elevating Jesus to the god status he repeated denies in the NT. Jesus is never mentioned in the Tanakh, and if there's one thing the Jewish God is not, it's triune,
The gods of the world are nonexistent.
After the Babylonian captivity, Yahweh is the only God. But before that, the reality of other gods is taken for granted eg

Exodus 15:11
Who is like thee, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like thee, majestic in holiness,
terrible in glorious deed, doing wonders?

Numbers 33:4 upon their gods also the Lord executed judgments.

Judges 11:23 So the Lord, the God of Israel, dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel; and are you to take possession of them? 24 Will you not possess what Chemosh your god gives you to possess? And all that the Lord our God has dispossessed before us, we will possess.

Psalms 82:1 God has taken his place in the divine council;
in the midst of the gods he holds judgment.

Psalms 86:8 There is none like thee among the gods, O Lord,
nor are there any works like thine.

Psalms 95:3 For the Lord is a great god,
and a great King above all gods.

Psalms 135:5 For I know that the Lord is great;
and that our Lord is above all gods.
And that's before we come to the non-Abrahamic divinities of the Hindus, theological Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Aztecs, and many more, not least the world's many native religions.

Let's suppose you never saw a circuit board in your life, would you conclude there is no way of knowing how it got like that. Perhaps you need more evidence it was designed?
How do we know it was designed?

Because it bears marks of manufacturing.

sn-allenbrain.png

This, they say, represents the connections in the brain... of a mouse.
It's incomplete.
They say these connections between brain cells, are about 200 from a mouse’s visual cortex, out of 1,300.
A tiny mouse.

Oh, they are looking at spending 7.75 million to map every circuit in the brain, but not to get side tracked, that's a different story.

Moving though, to the human body...
Why would you say the brain is not designed?

Because it doesn't bear any signs of manufacturing and instead, all the signs of evolution - a known, observed, explained and demonstrated natural process which literally results in natural design.

Faith requires no evidence.....that is why its called faith.

Almost. A better description would be that faith is what one has to appeal to to believe something, when there is no evidence.

We all "believe" something or someone when we have reason to. Nature and creation is enough for me to believe that the material world and its living creatures are not the product of blind chance. No one will ever convince me otherwise.

So you acknowledge that you engage in dogmatic faith based beliefs, resulting in the intellectually dishonest position that no matter what evidence is brought before you, you will not change your mind and just stick to your dogma.

It seems to me that you do not even realize the magnitude of this acknowledgement.

Would you say the circuit board was not designed, and has no designer?
Absurd right.
Almost as absurd as saying that the exact same person:

- discovered how semiconductors work
- came up with the standards for every type of chip
- designed every chip
- designed the circuit board AND
- hand-soldered every board that was ever produced

... if we want to go with your ridiculous analogy at all.

For me it is the prophecies in the bible, nature is a great testament to God's existence alone, but it wasn't enough for me. One such prophecy is in Daniel the 8th chapter where Daniel is given a vision of a two horned ram and a male goat with a conspicuous horn between its eye's, which was broken and 4 stood up in its place. Starting in verse 20 of Daniel chapter 8, an angel explains what the vision stood for. Ram two horns = kings of Media and Persia, male goat conspicuous horn = king of Greece. Conspicuous horn broken 4 kingdoms come up in place. According to history Daniel lived 620 - 538 BCE he was carried off captive in Babylon (Assyrians) 605 BCE. Two horned ram ( Medes and Persians ) conquered Babylon 539 BCE Daniel was still alive but quite old to see the fulfillment of this part. Next---king of Greece male goat Alexander the Great 336BCE-323BCE He dies at an early age and 4 of his Generals take a part of the kingdom ( Cassander, Ptolemy, Antigonus, Seleucus) Daniel had now been dead for a little over two centuries! How could he have known all the details unless it had been told him by a much higher intelligence? Isaiah 46:10... the one telling the from the beginning the outcome... there are numerous prophecies like this that have that wow factor in them that have convinced me. Thankyou for the respectful inquiry
