What is your understanding of Oneness? :)

Oneness is

Freedom from labels
Equality and non-duality
Diversity and community.
Many religions,
many purposes,
no religious wars.

Where our names are our identities,
our religions are our lifestyles,
our community is our family,
our spirituality is life.

That. Is Oneness

What I do believe, since you seem interested in learning of it, is that religion attends to a core of universal needs and values, but it is very much a challenge requiring considerable skill to attain any significant ability in it.

Scripture, dogma and beliefs are basically the bane of such efforts, the parasites that feed upon them.

We all should instead strive to exercise religion in an inclusive, emminetly social and equanimous way, to build and consolidate the basic moral virtues, starting with trust and acceptance.

That will result in an enormous variety of understandings and beliefs. That is ok as long as we don't give that too much weight.

A conscious and subconscious mind within an individual working as whole, one and in perfect harmony.

An objective and subjective mind within an individual working as whole, one and in perfect harmony.

In texts, this is the union/unity/marriage between the male/husband and female/wife mind principles within.

The Baha'i Faith teaches the oneness of God, oneness of humanity and oneness of religion and I understand that to mean unity. So unity between all people and religions.

Actually, from what I have read from Baha'i scriptures, Baha'is believe in a multitude of Gods, including the Bab, Baha'u'llah and Subh-i Azal their arch enemy.

There is no oneness of humanity and Baha'is are deemed highly superior to non-Baha'is.

Furthermore, what is stated as oneness of religions, means that all people must unite under one faith, that being Baha'i.

If anyone wants to debate this, I'll see them in the debate section of the forum.

We should get together and have a cup of tea one day. Maybe we can have 'virtual' tea on the Internet?? But with the utmost courtesy of course. Lovely meeting you. Hope we meet again soon.

Yes we can get together and have a virtual cup of tea on the debate section. But I doubt that will happen soon because to the best of my knowledge, the Baha'i internet agency has issued the following order regarding the critics of Baha'ism:

"Do not feed negative discussion threads. Not only is this a waste of time, but also it has the unintended consequence of making the thread appear more interesting to visitors because of all the postings. Let negative postings die on the vine—do not water them."

So you'll probably ignore me and have your cup of tea alone...

Wasn't asking what i believe, was asking what your understanding is about the word 'Oneness'? :)

Rather like "God" it could mean all kinds of things.

Personally I associate it with the feeling of being connected, or being part of a larger whole.

My understanding of "oneness" is that of 1 Corinthians 1:10 which reads...Now I urge you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you should all speak in agreement and that there should be no divisions among you, but that you may be completely united in the same mind and in the same line of thought.

And of John 17:21...so that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, so that the world may believe that you sent me.

Therefore, there is oneness in purpose and activity between Jehovah and Jesus Christ and there is unity of Christ’s disciples with God, with his Son, Jesus, and with one another in the congregation.
