What Keeps You Coming Back to RF?

Because when I've thought of venturing out I've found I can be very-cat like when it comes to change with a web forum. So here I still am, having never ventured further that time when I was bored and little to do with no more school, only one job and no more commitments other than work. I was curious about the internet, ventured out into it, walked, I don't even know probably not even a mile before copping a squat.

It's just another social media site I guess, but only that it emphasizes useful dialogue at times, where you might start to learn something about what a random selection of people think, that are interested in sharing what they thought. So it seems like a better use of time, for one's brain, than scrolling facebook

I also kind of like the idea of socialization that isn't too personal. Up close and personal people I have often found to get too judgy. So I guess I sort of like the distance, in a sense. And you know, it's hard to find non-virtual people who even want to talk about religion and philosophy. At least for me anyway

And as for politics, I don't really want to talk to people I know well, irl, that much about it. Though I sometimes do. It just seems like it would run the risk of severing a very proximal relationship.

Despite all of these concerns, another part of me just wants to start a really open youtube channel, where I show my face and talk about every one of my views. But I don't really have the guts to do it I guess

There's also the idea that it may be useful to simply practice laying out what you think in writing. Maybe not everyone even does that

Since there are a myriad options to choose from as far as debate, discussion, and social-media sites go, there must be something about RF in particular that keeps us regular users coming back.

For you, what keeps you interested in RF?
It's livelier than most of the science forums I frequent and there are plenty of people who have interesting things to say, or who are interesting characters. I learn new things here quite often. It is also fairly troll-free.

So-so moderation, as well as a decent group of regulars who are willing to discuss just about anything.

Rival.

Harel's wit.

The company of friends engaged in good discussion and lively debate over theology, science (and sometimes, for good or ill) politics.

It's been a feature of my life on-and-off for a decade now and I've had the pleasure of knowing some of my RF companions in real life.

I don't post much these days but RF will always be my go-to forum, when I have the time and inclination.
I love it when you come back and post and love your long posts. I wish you were here more :glomp::hearteyes:

Sorry, but @Revoltingest is no cop.

Police chief, maybe.

I enjoy the occasional harmless friendly banter and the company in general. Also, this is the best multi religious forum. Most others are geared towards a specific religion almost exclusively. Or because the lack of decent moderation become troll waste lands. The mods are better here, as in that none of them are knee jerks or snobs.

I like you people.

You, my dear girl, are one of the people I had in mind when I referred to "characters".;) I'm always looking to see what you will say, or what frightful or hilarious anecdote you will come up with next. It's a laugh a minute, but at the same time I find myself a bit concerned for your wellbeing......

The main reasons why I come back are the paranormal-related threads, some of the religious debates, and I've made a few friends here, one of whom I now consider to be a good friend. I also like the diversity of religions here and the fact that RF isn't dominated by one specific Abrahamic religion that rules the roost and forces people out, and I think that the moderation on the forum is done fairly.
