NATO agression... Yeah, right....
No violence or force was necessary, but imminent threat with lots of russian soldiers occupying Crimea was.
Why don't we go together to Crimea and ask Crimeans whether they are happy with Russia?

Mainstream Italian media are finally reporting the tragedy of Donbass genocide.
Years of persecution. A crime against the Russisn speaking population.
I can assure you they are starting to see Putin with different eyes.
I am reading articles of Italian army high officials condemning the old mainstream narrative.
So are the Ukrainians - as seeing him as being a traitorous murdering tyrant - like much of the world too.

Is there any evidence of this "genocide" other than
from Russian or Italian state media? As you've said,
Italians love Putin, so their objectivity is questionable.
Searching the internet, I'm finding zilch from any
credible source. Instead, "genocide" is debunked.

Italians still have long term memory.
They havent lost it.
Recalling what NATO made up to justify the intervention in Libya, NATO is as credible as a 30 dollar bill.
And this without mentioning Tonkin incident...and all the pretexts WA DC has set up to start a war, in history.
You're giving reasons why Italians favor Putin over USA
& NATO. This doesn't defeat the likelihood that Italian
media are Putin's puppets.
If Italy supports Putin & Russia, why is it in NATO?

1) Do you really think everyone is gonna risk telling the truth?
2) That doesn't address my major criticism: sending soldiers to somebody else's country while they are deciding about secession. This is outragerous.
Italy joined when NATO was founded.
Italians didnt expect Americans to elect someone like the 44th president...who didnt exaxtly sound and act like the leader of the free world.
Why not withdraw?
Italy could become a Russian satellite.
Did 44, Soros, or the Deep State threaten your country if you left NATO?
If you guys think Crimean referendum was not valid, let's repeat it.
It's 15 years in prison if they say
anything Putin could call "fake news".
The point is: from 2014 to 2022 Ukrainians have been harassing and persecuting Russian speaking civilians.
It's rather suspicious that the referendum
was conducted after Russia invaded.
That's one claim.
But Putin is claiming genocide.
This is odd because my friend who traveled
to Ukraine to kill Russians says otherwise.
Do Italian media support Putin's other claims, eg...
- There is no "war" or "invasion"...just a "special
military operation".
- No hospitals & apartment buildings have been bombed.
- Ukraine isn't a real country because it has no culture.
- Ukraine is run by Nazis.
- The "special military operation" is going according to plan.
- Putin was forced to invade Ukraine.
- Ukraine poses a nuclear existential threat to Russia.

Just so you know. The support in Italy for NATO is 60% ..higher than Germany and France even before this invasion. The posts here are not reliable guide to what Italian people really believe in any way shape or form.

Further the love affair of Italy with Russia was more restricted among the political elites rather than the public in Italy who believed that NATO and EU should actively intervene if Russia invades Ukraine. The current situation is forcing the political parties in Italy to also break ties with Russia (and their corrupt oligarchs) under public pressure.
Italy’s challenging divorce from Russia

It is true. Italians feel like they belong in NATO.
But the NATO cannot demand them to antagonize Russians.
