What Offends You?

What offends you?
A religion that claims to be the only true religion and the only way to God.
I think we both know what religion I am referring to. ;)
What does your religion/philosophy say about being offended?
“Beware lest ye offend the feelings of anyone, or sadden the heart of any person, or move the tongue in reproach of and finding fault with anybody, whether he is friend or stranger, believer or enemy . . . Beware, beware that any one rebuke or reproach a soul, though he may be an ill-wisher and an ill-doer.” (Abdu’l-Bahá, Tablets of Abdu’l-Bahá v1, p. 44)
Do you think people are too easily offended?
Maybe some people are, and some are not. I am not easily offended except by certain beliefs people hold.
Any other beliefs or non-beliefs are just fine by me.

"To make upset or angry." Mainly cruelty. Also poor dress sense, typically found in people that don't get offended.

What does your religion/philosophy say about being offended?
Anger not good, one of the three poisons. Enough with the numbers! Try to note it and let it pass. It's natural but don't indulge it.

Do you think people are too easily offended?

I couldn't generalise. I note there's the whole snowflake thing but that's all rather political imo.

Tbf that could be Judaism or Islam. It could even be your own.
I was referring to Christianity but it could also refer to Judaism.
It could not be Islam or the Baha'i Faith because we both believe that all the religions that preceded our religion are true religions.

Muslims don't believe Judaism and Christianity are true religions. Idk what you've heard about Islam but for mainstream Islam that's just not true.

It does not matter what Muslims believe, it only matters what is in the Qur'an.

Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muḥammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans—whoever believeth in Alláh and the Last Day and doeth right—surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.
Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdu’lláh, "The Meaning of the Glorious Qur’án", 2:62

If we look at one verse from the Quran, it say this
The Qur’an calls Jews and Christians “The People of the Book” and urges them to unite in Truth: O People of the Book, let us arrive at a word that is common to us all: we worship God alone, we ascribe no partner to Him, and none of us takes others beside God as lords.” (Qur’an 3:64)

But as i am sure you are aware of, you can also find verses that contradict this. So how to be sure what is the true meaning of those verses?
Sufism hold that it is up to each person what they believe in, no matter if a person is Jewish, Christian or Muslim

Willful stupidity.

What does your religion/philosophy say about being offended?
Willful stupidity is offensive to reasonable people. It is therefor reasonable to treat it as such.

Do you think people are too easily offended?
I think some people need to be offended when they are being repeatedly and willfully stupid.

With things like global warming, when people deliberately deceive others on something that could destroy humanity, that offends me. But I made a humanity destroying mistake according to realism when I was a raelian , so I must absolutely forgive all of it.

What do you consider willful stupidity?

I should have said that Muslims believe that the Abrahamic religions that preceded Islam are true. I don't know if Muslims believe that the Vedic religion is true.

So it’s safe to conclude that you’re mention of “all the religions” in post #25 excludes any religion that is non-Abrahamic?

I do not know if it is safe to say about Islam because I am not that familiar with their stance on the non-Abrahamic religions.
It is not safe to say about the Baha'i Faith since we do not exclude the non-Abrahamic religions.

I think Sufism is a bit more open minded on these things(and greatly admirable for it).
Sufism do adapt them self more to the society they are in, and this is very different to mainstream Islam who do not adabt but more force their belief and lifestyle to those who come in their way.
