What Offends You?

New What offends you?
Lies (even my own), and one very sure way to see me at my worst is to target my family. Speak ill of them or threaten them, or a friend who is very close, there's no 0 there 7, but rather an 8 through 10 on the offended and angered scale.
What does your religion/philosophy say about being offended?
That people have a right to be offensive, and their rights must be respected.
Do you think people are too easily offended?
There certainly are many of them.
I can see hats in houses, but in cars? Is that an etiquette thing where you live?
I was raised in the next state over that it's impolite and improper to not remove one's hat in a building.
New 1. People using their phones when I'm trying to talk to them. Instant conversation ender, and often the end of invitations to my house(or the accepting of invitations to theirs).
That is one thing. It's very rude.

I never said that Muslims believe that any religions that came after Islam are true, I only said that they believe that religions that came before them are true.
The entire Christian religion is predicated on Christ the Messiah. Islam does not accept Jesus as the Messiah, making it automatic they don't accept Christianity as valid. Rather, they view is something that has been corrupted and perverted (same with Judaism). If you do not accept Christ as your Messiah, you are not a Christian.

Yes, people are too easy to offend, and typically that would most often have to do with them already being angry about past offenses from other people not even present at the moment, with the most key events causing their anger pretty often far in the past, months or years ago.

You know how it's like you are just walking down the sidewalk in the big city, and some homeless person suddenly curses at you. You know it's not about you.

I think there's both.
Some people too easily offended, always looking for the next fight to pick over non-issue because it concerns whatever black sheep they have.

And some people who don't want consequences for their actions when they're being a dick, who cry 'you're too easily offended' when called out on their bs. Who just want to couch being a bully in personal freedom.

Christians believe that Jesus was the only Messiah. They are correct that Jesus was 'a Messiah' but they are incorrect in believing that Jesus was the only Messiah, because Jesus was never slated to be the Messiah of the latter days that the Jews are still waiting for.

Jesus was a Messenger of God as Muslims believe so the Muslims are correct, but Jesus was more than just a Messenger of God, so Muslims are incorrect when they say Jesus was just a man with no divine nature.

The Jews were wrong about Jesus because Jesus was a Prophet and Messenger of God, just not the Messiah they were waiting for.

Both the Jews and the Muslims are correct in viewing Christianity as something that has been corrupted and perverted because that is exactly what Christianity is. Christianity has been so corrupted by the false Christian doctrines that it is beyond repair.

Ergo they all view each other as invalid and false. This seems to extend into Baha'i, where there still exist a major disagreement as to who Jesus is/was.

Interesting observation, but that does not mean one of them is not true, logically speaking of course. ;)
Will the real Jesus please stand up. :D

What offends you?

Arrogance.

Offence is a fairly broad concept so if we're talking about behaviour that elicits anything from irritation to outright disgust from me, I think arrogance tends to be the most common underlying factor.

A complete lack of awareness of one's own failings tends to result in fairly obnoxious posturing. That's irritating. What disgusts me is when somebody is so supremely arrogant that they feel justified in trampling others in order to claim something they feel entitled to.

What does your religion/philosophy say about being offended?

It's possible that there's some Pagan literature out there that deals with the concept but I haven't come across it personally.

Do you think people are too easily offended?

Sometimes.

I'm often puzzled by what some people find offensive and equally puzzled by some people's indifference to things I think should offend them. Perhaps that's just me being arrogant though and thinking that my own values should be held by everybody... which they definitely should be since my values are the best and anybody who thinks otherwise is stupid!

Abrahamic religions with their one God and one chosen messenger.
It is natural that silly things will offend intelligence.
Yeah, they are.
I think Sufism is a bit more open minded on these things(and greatly admirable for it).
Sufiism is Islam though it wears different clothes.

It is not safe to say about the Baha'i Faith since we do not exclude the non-Abrahamic religions.
Abrahamic religions are predators. For predators, all other beings are food. Bahais are the smallest predators, less than even the Ahmadiyyas.
Christians believe .. Christianity has been so corrupted .. that it is beyond repair.
Excellent, carry on. Judaism is wrong, Christianity is wrong. Islam is wrong (because it does not accept the divine nature of Jesus), Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is lying that he is the Mahdi, all non-Abahamic religions are wrong because either they do not accept only one God or they do not accept any God, only Bahaollah is correct.

In theory nothing, but sometimes "theory" and "practice" are not in sync (I let emotions rule)

What does your religion/philosophy say about being offended?
You are Atma, hence it's impossible to be offended.

IF you identify with EGO then EGO can be offended.

But because you are Atma in reality AND NOT ego, body, emotion, mind etc., this offending does not apply to who you really are.

Do you think people are too easily offended?
IF you identify with ego, and don't identify with Atma, THEN of course you will be offended. That's what ego is all about; magnifying itself
