What Really Irks Me About Some Of The Posters Here Is. . . .

Skwim

That's what I've noticed about a lot of posters, particularly those who pop in with throwaway one-liners. It means that they don't know much about the subject matter and they're just trying to wing it to make others believe that they're clever when they're really not.
I've found they're most apt to digress into some irrelevancy. Kind of like Trump, who when faced with an embarrassing event, which is almost all the time, concocts some outlandish situation to draw attention away from the issue at hand. (I bet if you could check, you'd find such posters are Republicans. ;))

Trying to pass materialism off as a default correct position, rather than a belief- and acting like we're all supposed to just understand that materialism is right.

Just to be clear, what do you feel is the correct default position?

True enough, although political debates are often rife with partisanship where each side will try to one up the other.

What really grinds my gears about some posters is posting far too little. Claiming to have lives and such. What’s with some people!

Another pet peeve of mine is when an OP might post something that Sally Brown might have written, and then try to play dumb as if they don't know what they mean or trying to say.

Some people might use such posts as an opportunity to verbally abuse someone or otherwise act like complete jerks, when they could just as easily be decent about it.

Agnostic on the subject, but that doesn't mean we should assume materialism. Buddhists don't pretend to know the nature of the reality we live in, as though it must be humans could understand it.

Semantic arguments. I have complained and put people on my ignore list temporarily to this very day just for using semantics as a talking point. I believe I put it on this forum in my signature than I will not respond to semantic based arguments or it could have been another forum :D.

This is why defining a concept is important and I often ask for it from the get go although I tend to presume a lot to this very day and find posters who are unaware of the topic they discuss and make argument that counteract their own even though they are often correct in their conclusions. I try being polite but at the same time there is a point when I realize I am talking to an adult who should know better.

I have varying attitudes to how I respond to this problem and it ranges from polite to outright vitriolic. I am sure many posters here have noticed it :D. I am not denying my attitude towards topics I am just stating my emotions toward it.
