What was Jesus doing from when he did that thing when he was 13 until he got killed on the cross?

You have no idea

No sir, I actually have an idea on this topic.

I had an idea you were wrong, I supplied credible sources to show yours was in serious error.

Modern mainstream Christian scholarship has generally rejected any travels by Jesus to India, Tibet or surrounding areas as without historical basis:

Of course they would, they don't want to believe it, just like you, your mind is already made up and nothing anyone says will change that, as I said you know it all.

I do stuff
I studied the Bible at my high school and it doesn't say anything about what Jesus did or where he went for like nearly 20 years of his short life. What was he doing? Waiting to die?

The more I contemplate my own religion, the less it makes sense to me. *EDIT*. Because spreading this lie to so many people and terrifying children with lies is the same as child abuse.

You are easy prey.

When someone says they want to "get rid of" Christians and other people of faith... yeah... alarms go off for me. I tend to get images of the Holocaust, to say nothing of the horrors of early days of my own denomination. Certainly she is allowed to question her own faith, but to condemn all other Christians is carrying it a bit far in my estimation; especially when she accuses them of child abuse.
I'm not dictating anything to her concerning what she believes. I'm responding to her attitude towards the beliefs of others. When you hear "get rid of" what would your response have been? To shrug it off?

I just need to add: I can't tell you the number of times I have been lectured on how, if you come in here, you have to be prepared to have what you say challenged and that as an adult you have to be prepared to deal with the consequences of what you say.
All well and good but kindness goes a LONG way. Would you care to compare the atrocities done to my people by people of your faith? Some NA"s were not allowed to practice their own faith on penalty of death. Did you know the Hawaiians were not allowed to dance, to speak their own language and even eat their own food or wear their own clothing?? Please don't speak to me about people challenging one's faith. I have seen it first hand. Do you see me lambasting you every day about that? No because you are not your faith. That poster seems young and perhaps needs a place to voice her concerns. Christ would show her love and understanding. How about you do the same?

No.

Deliberately telling vile lies to children such as "eternal damnation" and torture and representing them as truth to believe a certain doctrine is child abuse.

Ergo the Catholic Church implements child abuse as one of its tenants.

Ergo the Catholics doing this should be put away.

Learn to read.
Its not abuse. Its what the parents believe and want to impart to their children. They believe its the right thing to do. The Catholic church is only doing what they think is right. If you disagree, don't follow that faith. Its that simple. Or don't teach your children that path. Become an atheist or choose another path. And the snarky response was not needed.

That there is truth and there is religion (non-truth)?
Hannah, you are new here. Outhouse is one of the more learned people on this board. Trust me..you could learn a great deal from him. Even as a doctor in theology, I have learned from the man. Maybe try stepping back a bit and not being so defensive. Outhouse really is a good guy.

I know how to read missy. I justly believe your evaluation of what Catholicism's attempts to teach is very much skewed by your bitterness and contempt. I still maintain that to desire to "put anyone away" because of their beliefs is as much a criminal act as what you are accusing them of.

What's that expression? Murphy's law or Godwin's law or something?

Y'know... when the first person to bring up Hitler, the Nazi's or the Holocaust in a thread where it's not relevant inherently loses the debate?
In your twisted way, you may think I have lost the debate. But I tell you that that is what started the Holocaust. The belief that people should be "put away" or "got rid of" is always the first move in that atrocity. I think you have as much to repent of as you accuse the Catholic church of having. I think that for you to teach little children that people should be put away because of their beliefs is teaching them to have the same mean spirit as you have. I really do hope you never become a mother.

When you say "my people". I've no idea who you are talking about. "My people" sponsored the Polynesian Cultural Center where Hawaiians dance, speack their own language as well as English and do wear their own clothing. Further, I have as much a right to express my concerns with that kind of bitter and mean spirited talk coming from that point of view as that adult child does. I consider that I am providing understanding by pointing out that her desire to "get rid of people" who disagree with her. You may need to take a chill pill yourself.

I am half Native American. That was what I meant by 'my people'. I should have made that more clear. Today, Hawaiians have reclaimed their culture but if you had studied it, you also know that what I said was true. btw...Loved the Polynesian Cultural Center with the feast and dancing and so on but I hated Poi.

Psychoslice, I would be curious to hear your reasoning behind believing Jesus had been to India. Personally, I do not believe he had, but I would like to see the counter-view so that I might more fairly consider it.
There is actually tones of info on Jesus in India, I must say that I don't even believe in the man Jesus, but the story of Jesus is certainly a mixed bag. Much of the new testament is stories mixed with stories from the Hindu, the Buddha and many other belief systems, and the end result is the Jesus that we know from the new testament. There are so many similarities between the stories of Jesus and other god men, such as Krishna, and the Buddha, to believe that the whole new testament is a completely new story is just ridiculers.

I certainly don't know the full truth of the matter, and no one here certainly knows, to say that you know the exact truth is fooling yourself, this is what Outhouse is doing, fooling himself, just do your own investigation on the matter, there is so much out there, and I believe we will never know the truth, because there is so much taken from various truths and cultured into the Christian belief system, and it doesn't matter if we ever know the truth, just use what you have and let that take you into the truth that is only found within, nowhere else.

As a Buddhist myself, I do not take seriously the idea that Jesus traveled to India and was exposed to the Buddha's teachings. One, I know of no convincing evidence to actually place him there. Two, and more importantly, when I read the New Testament, I see none of the teachings unique to the Buddha. I see Jesus making no mention of the Four Noble Truths, dependent origination, or the teaching of not-self. Sure, there is some overlap in regards to ethical teachings, but that is a minor matter according to the Buddha Himself. In the Brahmajala Sutta from the Digha Nikaya, the Buddha say that those who would praise Him over His morality are praising Him on trifling matters:

"It is, bhikkhus, only to trifling and insignificant matters, to the minor details of mere moral virtue, that a worldling would refer when speaking in praise of the Tathāgata. And what are those trifling and insignificant matters, those minor details of mere moral virtue, to which he would refer?

"'Having abandoned the destruction of life, the recluse Gotama abstains from the destruction of life. He has laid aside the rod and the sword, and dwells conscientious, full of kindness, compassionate for the welfare of all living beings.' It is in this way, bhikkhus, that the worldling would speak when speaking in praise of the Tathāgata.

*For those unfamiliar with the term, "Tathagata" is one of the titles of the Buddha, one He frequently uses when referring to Himself.

There are a lot of simularities of the Buddha and jesus if you know how to look., below link is an example.
http://buddha-christ.info/similarities.html

This article is not only no a credible source of any kind. But it also attributes all NT sayings as coming directly from jesus, not the unknown authors who wrote the words used in the article.

The article is fine for understanding the difference and similarities between the religions.

BUT the comparison between Jesus and Buddha, are far from academic.

And not a single word is credible, or holds credibility.

Much of the new testament is stories mixed with stories from the Hindu,

None of it is FROM hindus

It is factually from Judaism.

to believe that the whole new testament is a completely new story is just ridiculers.

No credible person says it is a new story. But it is about a sect of Hellenistic Judaism that divorced Judaism surrounding the martyrdom of a crucified Galilean.

There are so many similarities between the stories of Jesus and other god men, such as Krishna, and the Buddh

Yes! like all deities, mythology developed around their definitions by people who found importance in the theology.

I certainly don't know the full truth of the matter,

That's is obvious.

to say that you know the exact truth is fooling yourself, this is what Outhouse is doing, fooling himself

No unlike you, I studied what is known in great detail, I don't claim to know the truth, but I have the education to know what you propose is incorrect to the point of absurdity.

I have provided you with the academic stance on the topic, which shows it snot me your arguing with, you magically now seem to know more then all the professors and scholars, throwing out the advise they give showing your errors.

, just use what you have and let that take you into the truth that is only found within, nowhere else.

Oh I see.

Throw out academics and use imagination, nice
