What was the worst year of your life?

While I consider 2007 to be the most difficult year of my life, it changed my worldview and made me the person I am today, for better or for worse.

I think that what can be perceived as the worst year in your life, when reflected upon with an critical, nonjudgmental, open mind, can bring productive changes to your life.

I was just thinking earlier today, "Sometimes we can learn from the examples of others better than we learn from our own example -- but for most of us, not often".

You're welcome, and thanks for being interested. I bet you yourself have had a remarkable life. I've noticed that people who are interested in others tend to both be rare and to have led interesting lives -- while most people who are not interested in others tend to have led relatively dull lives -- but perhaps only relatively so. Those are at best only tendencies, though.

Well, my immigration from Vietnam to the US could be considered interesting since we were boat refugees.

Other than that, it's a typical immigrant story from poverty to stable life. I'm so rooted now in San Jose, CA with a wonderful family that there's really not much to add these days. I get my kicks off of these forums. :)

Absolutely... In hindsight, its always the challenges and conflicts that help us grow. :)

I'd love to hear it, if you'd be willing to tell it! :)

Hey Sunstone,

Sorry for the delay. I wanted to write something here but couldn't really find the words.

Honestly, it's a long time ago and I do not define my life as a refugee any more. If anything, I use that story to push my anti-communism/socialism bias. Pondering whether I should just stop...

:)
