What was your first album?

Probably the very first Beatles album. When did that come out anyway? '64 or something like that? I still have it. It's in good but definitely not mint condition.

My first record was Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms, bought for me by my Mom for my eighth birthday. I still have a copy of it @ home. It's a classic.

First rock albums didn't come along till I was 10 or 11 and include Aerosmith: Rocks (highly recommeded). Frank Zappa: Joes Garage Act 1 (which certainly explains a lot) and a rarely known gem untitles UTOPIA: Ra which featured an "electrified fairy tale". If you have never heard of an "electrified fairy tale" just picture little fairies with wee tiny electrical guitars.

I have Joe's Garage on cassette somewhere around here. I got in trouble back in my college radio days for playing "Why Does it Hurt When I Pee?" on my Valentine's Day special.

What matters is that you still have it. Was it their first album on Capitol or was it the one on Vee Jay?

I can't tell you how many times I have put "One World" on mixes I've made for friends. Their isn't a bad track on that entire album.

First album owned: Some Raffi cassette.

First album released: Heiðinnheim - Fallen Christ
It was just a session gig on bass and backup vocals, but it was sure fun as hell.

My first record was a 45, I think it was "Mony Mony" by Tommy James and the Shondells. But I think my first record album was Jimmy Hendrix, "Are You Experienced".

What was your first album? It doesn't have to be one that you bought for yourself, it can be one that a parent or someone bought you. It just has to be the first album that was yours and yours alone.

The first one I got (like most kids who came of age in the 80's) was Michael Jackson's Thriller (on vinyl). I played that album everyday when I got home from school. Of course, I liked side two better so I always played that one first. "Beat It" always seemed like it should have been the starter and "Thriller" the closer. But that's just my opinion.

So what was your first?

You know its THRILLER! THRILLER night and no ones gonna save you from the beast thats gonna strike. THRILLER!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha ha, that was mine as well! :p

It would be another 12 years later until i would get fully exposed to Zappa and finally be aware of and be able to listen to Acts II & III.

Are we talking vinyl or plastic? I have both. lol Well, my very first album was Sharon, Lois, and Bram (The Elephant Show), on vinyl. I don't even think I was a year old. Many, many albums, vinyl and plastic, have since followed.

My friend Randy's older brother was in Viet Naman, and while he was gone he told Randy that he could use his collection of 45s. Now, Randy's older brother was by far the coolest guy on the block. He had a jacked up Pontiac LaMonds with cherry bombs, chrome rims, and the rear differential painted florescent orange. And he had a girlfriend that used to make Randy and I turn red just to look at her. *smile* So you can imagine that his record collection was of only the most cool songs (Randy and I thought "Wild Thing" was maybe illegal for us to listen to), and yet I remember that he had the 45 of "Sugar, Sugar". So you weren't such a dork.

Randy's brother did make it home from Viet Nam, eventually, though he certainly was not the same as when he left. I have no idea whatever became of him, but I bet that record collection of his would be worth a few bucks, today.
