I believe in you. And I'd be happy to read drafts and provide feedback on writing if you like. I mean, you can clearly *write*, you do it on the forum all the time. It's just a matter of organizing the writing.
Well, I already sent a paper to a journal, so I might do that if they end up rejecting it (which they probably will).

Today I am feeling anxious. I could be reading into current affairs too heavily. I thought about making a thread on my concerns. I really think I and others like me are under serious attack.
In what way are you under serious attack?

I would say your feelings are justified, because state legislatures around the country seem to have an anti-LGBTQ+ agenda and also the Christian Right has infiltrated the government at several levels, leading to Supreme Court decisions that are pecking away at minority rights. However, don't let it paralyze you personally. If you can find a group who is fighting these trends (like the ACLU) and get involved with helping them do it, it might make you rest a little easier, knowing that you are doing something. If it helps, you have many allies who aren't minorities that are working with different organizations to also stem the spread of this neo-populist intolerance. Hang in there.

A lighter today. Good, I've been concerned about your recent heavy days.
It was a torch lighter, red. :)

I think it fizzled out already, though. That's what you get from the Dollar Tree...

I don't know what to say, other than I'm sad that you have to be worried about this at all, and

:glomp:

The recent barrage of anti-LGBTQ legislation sweeping America (mostly in red states). It's mostly aimed at trans-women but it effects everyone under that rainbow umbrella.
There needs to be some balance in my view. Keep people safe who are of ts(two spirited)lgbtq and stop discrimination against them. At the same time, families should be able to teach their kids that it's wrong per their moral understanding and that not be termed abusive to child.

And kids should not be involved early to decide one way or the other.

To me, if parents are going to teach kids to have reservations about it, then they should also teach them critical thinking and some good things about moral values, so they can't be later exploited by those with a real agenda against trans people.

Critical skills develop, kids don't have them developed fully. They have to take a leap of faith and they should be able to receive guidance from their parents in that regard.

I still see use in teaching kids critical thinking early on, especially if you're going to be dealing with other adult subjects, as well.

Then they should be presented both sides equally. Otherwise, the agenda is all to clear. You push too far and there will be a backlash.

The alternative to critical thinking, though, isn't admirable (in my opinion).

I think at this point, if we want to talk about this subject more, though - one of us should just start a thread in Debates.
