It's late so I'll be quick. I'm an Atheist I'm afraid, so where does that leave me regarding my role in the whole GOD/satan thing? As for the point of life? Tears, laughter, stories, anger, love, hate, confusion, greed, kindness, understanding, progress, empathy, sadness, happiness, sex, adrenaline... okay I suppose it's obvious I could list, well, everything we can comprehend so far (if I could) and it still would not encompass the absolutely wonderful fact that we are conscious and able to engage in this type of discussion with one another.dbrowncola said:The purpose of life as the bible tells us has only one meaning!
To decide if you are a servent of GOD or satan.
By murder you can change the life of others.Maxist said:The point of life is to make a change in the lives of others.
It is a state that Bertrand Russell (atheist/philosopher/mathematician) called "unyielding despair." I'm not unfamiliar with it. There were even times I thought about "taking the easy way out." Looking back, I now I describe it as a sense of being all alone, being disconnected from the web of life and the natural consequence of life without religion. (By "religion," I don't mean belief in a Big Daddy in the sky. Beliefs are the form, the conceptual interpretation of connectedness, not religion.)Ori said:At the moment (and the last several years) I feel like life is pointless, there is nothing I can do about it.

And that is the task of religion, not what you see on TV or in churches.A human being is a part of this whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to apportion for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Albert Einstein
What isn't the point in life? Answer that question.Ori said:At the moment (and the last several years) I feel like life is pointless, there is nothing I can do about it.

Whatever made you think you need to "do something about it"?Ori said:At the moment (and the last several years) I feel like life is pointless, there is nothing I can do about it.
