Because the EU is made up of countries with no money so where do the people of those countries head for?, easy answer, they head to where money is.
The right move was not free movement but investment in those countries to be more self supportive.

Letting a million unknowns into Europe, she's at her lowest in popularity in germany for the same reason.

It would be a catastrophe to have another referendum,personally I would rather starve than crawl back to the EU, at least May has said there won't be one, let's just get out and wipe our feet on the way.
