What were those elections that gave Farage, Batton, Collins, etc. a good pension and expense account? Oh, and a seat in Brussels

They were political puppets designed to give the EU the semblance of being democratic.

Do not forget that the EU had money to burn while they had the UK as a generous source of income.

I love my country which is why I recognise a hard Brexit is the best advert for Scottish independence going at the moment. Not sure why I should support a successful hard Brexit since it involves the Tories steering the UK off the economic cliff in order to turn us into a low-wage tax haven for the super-rich. That said, it is causing more and more of my countrymen to see sense at last and accept that an independent Scotland is the way forward.

The Leave side didn't think things the consequences of their actions and idiotic position through at all; they had no plan whatsoever. Things are so bad we've got idiot Brexiteers trying to blame their lack of any coherent plans, strategies or arguments on Remainers because that's all they can do: blame everyone else for their decisions. No matter how many times I'm told 'you should support Brexit', I've never been given any reason to. A bad idea is a bad idea is a bad idea.

This EU is nothing but a clownery...it's pure farce.

Why are British people so disappointed in the EU? Because treaty after treaty, it slowly stole sovereignty from them.
So in other terms:
1) UK deserves to exit without paying any "ransom"
2)It's UK who has the right to decide the terms of its relations with the EU countries post-Brexit.
Because Germany, Belgium, Italy are all net exporters towards UK, so we're not in the condition to impose the British anything. They are.

Almost as much of a farce as the state Italy's economy would be in without EU financial assistance.

Why are British people so disappointed in the EU? Because treaty after treaty, it slowly stole sovereignty from them.

Except the principle examples of how this was done were shown to be incorrect. Hardcore Leavers constantly tell us our sovereignty is being stolen in one breath while in the next they're whining about how May is surrendering our sovereignty to Brussels by not accomplishing the impossible.

Do we have sovereignty to surrender or do we not? Pick one.

Also, for 'British people' read a minority of the electorate made to look like a majority by a rigged advisory poll.

A country whose sovereignty has been stolen would not be able to leave the EU of its own volition. Scotland currently has such a position within the UK - we can't legally organise a referendum on independence unless Westminster okays it and Westminster is currently attempting to grab power over whole sections of Scots Law which is a breach of the Treaty of Union - so don't try to condescend to me as to what sovereignty is or is not.

No wonder your country's economy is in the state it's in if an attitude like yours is an indicator of that held by your government. The UK pledged money to pay for services and projects being worked on in the EU. Why shouldn't we pay money we've already promised to pay? Who do you think will want to make trade agreements with a nation that reneges on its own international financial commitments in such bad faith?

The EU 27 are in a much better position to absorb the shock of Brexit than the UK is because they'll still have close economic ties to one another. The UK will not; and will have to renegotiate its trade deals around the world from a much much weaker position than it currently has. You're assuming that Germany, Belgium & Italy won't be able to find other, cheaper markets for their exports than the UK, either within the EU or without.mean maybe Italy won't since your government is so bad at running your economy.

Your position is like saying that a homeless man is in a position of power because the soup kitchen that keeps him fed is a net exporter of food to him so he has the opportunity to demand what he wants from them.

The 'exit money' we have to pay is for project we have agreed to partake in, Other member states have also committed money and the projects are now short of funding that we have contracted to.

But I thought you are constantly telling us that only the EU can make trade deals with non-EU countries; so if you are correct, then there is your answer the 27 will get a better deal sticking together.

Is the EU going to survive long enough to get the £39 billion of us?

I bet they wish they had their EU army ready to subdue the nationals.

Financial assistance? We are not Spain...we are net contributors...so explain me what this financial assistance consists in.

The Checkers deal is a start- but it's not what people voted for.

Sovereignty is incompatible with the European Commission...an undemocratic technocratic entity whose members have ties with a banking élite, so their masters are those bankers...they could care less of the EU countries.
Juncker has periodic, official dinners with that slimy serpent called George Soros. This suffices.

We don't need the British "ransom" (£39 billion) since we're net contributors...maybe other countries like Greece do.

...we are the best at economy...in the 80s we surpassed Germany at industrial growth thanks to our net exports, to our socialist state (the IRI formula also known as state capitalism), to our devalued currency.
That's why the Germans have decided to boycott us with the treaty of Maastricht, with the Euro and the Andreatta-Van Miert agreement.
They're envious. They always were since the Roman Empire.

80s: Italy surpasses Germany as for industrial growth
1992: Maastricht. Germany (that leads the EU) imposes Italy to dismantle its assets through the Andreatta-Van Miert agreement
90s: Italian productivity drops

Btw...this EU is rotten to the core.
We will not rest until every treaty, especially Maastricht and Lisbon is rewritten.

We will create a new Europe of Nations, destroying the decadent Europe of bankers

There is a person named Ken Mifsud Bonnici answering about Brexit somewhere else.

I find his answers and explanations very readable, well informed and reasonable.

One of the resources that he offered is this list of refutations.

European Commission in the UK - European Commission

I particularly recommend this post.
https://qr.ae/TUtFVa

The UK is sick and fed up of paying for what previous generations did.

The UK was instrumental in saving Europe from oppression in its recent history.

Has Panama become a vassal state of the USA?

The UK has considerably more spending power than Panama.

How many other powerful nations would accept taxation without representation?

Once we enter the backstop, we will be the minion of 27 countries of which many of those are contributing far less than the UK.

The backstop is a trap that only a fool would accept.

The UK should leave on WTO rules and use the £39 billion and the rest as a buffer until trade deals are settled.

Parliament should be very careful not to cheat the electorate.
