i have no idea who they are

LMAO. Your avatar is the Geico Gecko (it's a mascot for the car insurance company Geico.) ;) In the television commericals he speaks with an accent that's supposed to imitate either an aussie or cockney accent, or something.

YouTube - Important Email - GEICO Commercial

Also the sniper from Team Fortress 2 is supposed to be aussie, but aussie players complain about his accent.

And here is the demoman from the same game, who's supposed to be scottish, but again scot players complain about his accent, too. :p

As a brit I love the deep South accent (Female) Unfortunatly my wife knows this and uses it to her advantage when she wants something

Reason, and reason again
Italian or Russian or some Latin American as long as it's not nearly incomprehensible.

I can't stand Cajun accents, personally, which is probably really irksome to many neighbors who are from New Orleans. Similarly, I hate, hate "deep South" accents.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

Not trying to quibble, but I just wanted to point out something - I was wondering how long it would take for someone to start talking about accents they DON'T like, turning a positive thread into a negative.

And being a native New Orleanian and coon *** extraordinaire, I ADORE cajun accents, and deep South accents! :slap: Though I don't speak with a Cajun accent, I do have a pronounced Southern accent that would probably drive you absolutely insane, sweetie pie!

There are accents I don't care for, but I won't go into that here - I would hate to offend someone. Most people can't really help picking up an accent, and it takes a lot of discipline to rid oneself of one.

But bless yore heart, you prob'ly haven't had good home trainin', and don't know any better. That's ok, sugar lump dumplin'.

Hey Kathryn,

I think that we did well with 5.5 pages without any negative.

I think the cajun accent is cool, but only because gambit from the x-men has one.

I wonder if there's a way that we can all post samples of our voices.

I could have some fun and say things like

"that's not knife, THIS is a knife"
"CRIKEY"
"g'day mate"
"throw another shrimp on the barbecue" (strangely enough i've never thrown a shrimp on a barbie let alone a prawn)

Every time I hear Reba McEntire say, "Ahm Reba McEntire," I want to scream. Normally, I don't like southern accents, but I've heard a very soft-spoken southern accent that's nice. I like British and Australian but I can't tell them apart most of the time. I know, that infuriates the British and the Australians, but I can't help it. Obviously, if it's a cockney accent or something that obvious, I can tell that it's British, but a lot of the time I can't. I used to absolutely love hearing Lady Di talk.

In one of the Geico commercials, one guy refers to him as the Gecko with the British accent. And another lady goes, "British, I thought it was Australian." And then the Gecko says, "well actually I'm from..." and then the commercial ends.

So .

LOL, no I don't think I sound like Paula Dean OR Reba MacEntire. I just have a slight drawl - like this:

"Whale, Ah'm not SURE how ta do this, but Ah'll sure trahy mah BEST to whup up this mahRANG for this cok u nut cream PAH!" :run:

I'm not at all offended by the way. I used to be a corporate trainer and when I would train groups up north (meaning anything north of Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Virginia and west of Texas) often the class would start saying things like, "Just keep talking so we can listen to your accent!" Even if they thought it was funny, I took it as a warm fuzzy sort of dig, like affection.

And they DID listen!

I am from upstate NY ( which is anything north of NYC/Yonkers if you know the area)
I never thought I had any accent. So I move to San Antonio Tx and I was a horse and carriage driver/tour guide.
It took a Frenchman to notice and say "what are you doing giving a Texas tour, your not a Texan"?
He's the one I had imitate and American accent for me and he did that and English and it was all hilarious!

Israeli accents sound the best IMO.

First time I heard one I thought it was French, lol. But I do like them.
Now, did you happen to see Don't Mess With The Zohan? How well do you think Adam Sandler did on his Israeli accent?

Lol yea I have to agree about Israelis sounding a bit French.

I hate Adam Sandler but that movie was great and he nailed the accent. Also, the movie I think represented the typical Israeli pretty well- Arab-ish people who brush their teeth with hummus and sell overpriced electronics

The Geiko accent IMO is the voice of that World Travel TV Series {'Globe Trekker'???'} ---it seemed New Zealand . . . I don't know yet. but my mum has a plastique Figurine of the Geiko Geko.

My favorite accent spoken by a woman is a special hybred:
"Black English" ---a black woman from England speaking English.

I must note that there is a Peculiarity here which I do NOT yet understand:
It does NOT occur in all "Black Brit Women with Brit Accents" ---BUT why do the other speak that most melodious timbres?

IS IT ONLY those "Black Brit Women" who were raised by West Indian Parents; or is it those "Black Brit Women" who were raised by African Parents?

Yes, Adam Sandler nailed the accent.
