When President Biden said “It's time to put Trump in the bullseye", he gave anyone an open hunting license to shoot Trump

And for that reason alone Biden should pull out of the presidential race

It was a private call that was leaked, and "bullseye" was not literal:

"I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye."

Metaphors are just that.
When Trump says "Fight!", is it a call to beat up Democrats?

The problem is that the context of a metaphor
changes with current events, making their
meaning look different from the original intention.

It's stupid & divisive to play such word games.

If you or I posted online, “Fight”, we would not be surprised to be visited by the F.B.I, but if we said “Trump should be put in the bullseye”, we should not be surprised to be listed by the F.B.I.

I agree with you about Trump, and when he told the Jan 6 mob they need to fight like hell, they understood him loud and clear, and MAGAs understood him would and clear when he says he will be dictator from day one and he will seek retribution, and he and they actually believe God saved him from the shooter and thus God wants him to win in November and save them and America from the evil Democrats, and they believe the shooter was provoked by Biden’s remark, and they have every reason to believe it.

You are talking bull.

But if you want to be perceived as doing something else, maybe we should consider some of Trump's typical speeches then - and put him in a nice, confortable prison cell.
I agree with you about Trump. I started dissing him when he ran for president in 2016 and the Democrats fielded the only candidate he could beat, so we have them to thank for what came after that.

If you or I had said what Biden said, we should not been surprised to be visited by the FBI. The shooter took Biden at his word. Just like MAGAs took Tirmp at his world when he told them to fight like hell on January 6.

If you or I were working to get Biden reelected on a private call and said "Enough coverage about Biden, we need to put Trump in the bullseye," the FBI would likely ignore it. Because it's obviously a metaphor. People understand that. Context matters.

The difference with Trump is that context. Trump talks publicly to an especially angry crowd of people pumped full of conspiracy theory he cultivates about the election (with absolutely no evidence, mind you), surrounded by language about taking back the government and it being stolen by nefarious means.

Biden was talking politics with his political advisors. The advisors understood it was about focusing the medai attention on Trump and his serious legal and behavior problems.

Trump was talking to his angry MAGA base to go out and do something. What? Vote again? No. Fight like hell. And that was understood, and it resulted in over 140 police officers injured, and multiple deaths.

If Trump was so stupid as to say things that his base misunderstands, then he's not fit. If Trump wanted them to commit the violence they did, he's not fit.

If Biden was talking politics with his political advisers, how did he or they become so utterly stupid as to make that comment public?

Biden has never been the sharpest tool in the shed.
A mediocre student, he entered the working world
as a "low potential high achiever", with the gift of
gab, & a willingness to morph into whatever figure
he thought would gain him political power.
Alas, our other choice, Trump, is even worse.

I agree with you. There is another choice as a voter, though. Don’t vote, vote for a third party candidate, or write in someone else. I live in Alabama, so my vote is irrelevant, because Alabama is way red and my vote won’t matter in the Electoral College, and I have to answer to God for my vote, and I don’t vote for a war criminal (Gaza) or a traitor (Jan 6).

Unlike Trump who position is he can have political rivals assassinated as an official act and be immune from prosecution.
Try putting this in context.
I put it into context, it looks to me Biden got the idea from Trump and his lawyers and the Trump SCOTUS justices
