Well, Gerani, like I said, I think it's interesting that you, as a Hindu, didn't know this, and I, as a Baptist, did. Even someone else (I can't remember who it was, but he/she was a Pagan) answered the question before any Hindu did.

And as far as Shiva being angry ... no he was not angry ... that's just what he does best ... destroys things ... just doing his job.

And I sincerely do hope you have a nice day as well.
before? Timing has nothing to do with my so called insecurity. I was merely unavailable as I am never on this forum 24/7 as YOU are.

btw, I find it hard to believe you dont agree with that pentacostalist. Does it make sense that one christian can think another non christian is going to hell when christians think other christians are going to hell?

Im sorry, but I dont really judge people. I really dont understand you. You were asking for a real hindu view point to this disaster and I gave it. You seem to be misinformed to as what a Hindu is.

Well a hindu doesnt neccesarily mean that he is a theist. there are many hindus out there who dont believe in a God.

Oh, but you probably knew about that anyway... :jiggy:

Gerani, I'm sorry, but I'm confused now (which isn't anything new).

Are you a Hindu, or aren't you?

Are you some kind of Neo-Hindu? A Hindu in name only? or what?

Don't you have approximately 10,000 different deities?

Don't you believe in and adhere to the Caste Sytem?

Or do you just pick and choose what you want to believe so you can wear the label?

I'm confused.

Amazing.

Well, I guess it's time for a Baptist to explain the true Hindu position on this.
There IS no 'true Hindu position' on anything. Hinduism is such a diverse religion you can't claim much of anything is a true Hindu position.

(If I were a Hindu, I'd be embarrassed.)
So would I; having people prance about telling me what my beliefs are would be pretty obnoxious and embarassing if done in public.

The most powerful Halloween icon that symbolizes this is the Old Hag. The boiling pot she is stiring represents birth (the pot = the womb). The full moon in the background represents the person growing to full maturity, and the Old Hag herself represents the last stage of life, or death. Thus you have the Hindu cycle represented in icon form.
Witches/the old hag/whatever you want to call it has nothing to do with Halloween. It's a European celebration... not a drop of Hinduism in its origins.

As I understand it, in Yin/Yang philosophy, good and evil co-exist in harmony. (Whereas in Christian theology, good will triumph over evil.)
Ying and yang aren't as simple as good and evil. Your lack of understanding doesn't change what it is.

But you knew that anyway, didn't you, Jensa?

You were just pretending it was a weather disturbance, right?
Oh yes, you caught me in my big 'make Taoism look innocent to attract naive followers' conspiracy!

AV1611, I don't know what your problem is, but you need to learn, if not respect, than tolerance for other beliefs.

Don't even go there.

Where's comments like that when people are saying stuff like:

[someone]: Mark didn't write Mark
AV: Who did, then?
- crickets chirping -

[someone]: The King James Bible follows corrupted Greek text.
AV: No it doesn't. It follows the Gothic line.
[someone]: The Gothic line is corrupt.

AV: God created Earth with age embedded in it.
[someone]: Why would God lie and trick us?

AV: God has preserved His word spotless.
[someone]: The Bible is full of contradictions.

And you got the gall to want me to respect the Baghavad-Gita, Book of Mormon, Necronomicron, 7000 year-old wheels, etc?

I don't see how any of those are disrespectful... though it may be because I'm not Christian. Similarly, you may not be able to see how calling someone a ying-yangist is disrespectful because you're not Taoist.

I don't care if you respect them or not. If you want to participate on this forum you have to tolerate other beliefs.

EDIT: If the things you pointed out truly offend you, do as Feathers suggested earlier: Hit the report button. It will bring it to our attention and we can talk as a team to decide what needs to be done about it.

I believe those are called preachers.

Or, as the Hindu call them, avatars.

Witches/the old hag/whatever you want to call it has nothing to do with Halloween.
Ummmm ... okay. Tell that to Sam Walton and Fred Meijer next month.

Would you plese tell me ONE thing I've said about someone else's religion that was disrespectful?

I said before, I'm not here to bash anyone else's religion, and I meant it, too.

Let me rephrase that: Someone that doesn't even believe what I do telling me what I do and don't believe would be pretty obnoxious.

If I knew who they were, I would. Halloween originated in Europe... not Asia.

Telling someone what they believe as a believer of ANY faith is disrespectful. I don't try to tell you what you believe as a Christian... extend that same courtesy to others.

As I stated before, calling me a ying yangist was disrespectful. There's your one thing.

Where did I call you a Yin-Yangist? You're a Taoist. Aren't they two different things?

I was talking to anyone who believes in Yin-Yang, and I don't know what they're called.

It's like calling me a Baptist because I believe in Baptism. What's the deal???

Baptism ... Baptist

Yin/Yang ... Yin/Yangist

What am I missing?

Now that's real cute. That's why I love conversing with you guys. You're so professional.

I prefer to be on the nose. You are not here to argue. You are here to put others down; then you find it funny that we don't like it. :sarcastic

AV, what is this obsession you have with yin-yang ? I have tried to find the point at which yin-yang first came in here, but quite frankly I think it more productive to read "War & peace" than try to disect this thread.

One simple question, Michel, and I'll ask it for the last time:

Would a Yin-Yang believer please tell us why Hurricane Katrina occurred?

According to YOUR doctrine --- not meterology.

Darkdale, I don't KNOW you guys. I'm not here to pick on anyone. You guys probably do more charitable things in a month than I do in a year, if I read your posts right.

It is common knowledge that the ying yang is a Taoist symbol. If you didn't know it before, now you do. Please stop calling believers 'ying-yangists;' it is disrespectful.

It's like calling me a Baptist because I believe in Baptism. What's the deal???
Except that there IS a Baptist sect... there isn't a ying-yangist sect.

Malus 12:9

Temporarily Deactive.
Sorry to interrupt men but perhaps this is why AV1 introduced discussion of yin yang in this thread:

It represents the balance of opposites in the universe. When they are equally present, all is calm. (Calm of the earth, no disasters.)When one is outweighed by the other, there is confusion and disarray. (Disarray in the earth's balance, causing disaster)

It was just a thought, no lynch mob of taoists please:)
