To the best of my knowledge the term Messiah was not clearly defined prior to the death of Jesus. If I am right, there is no possible way to claim Jesus was or was not the Messiah.

I’ll go off on s slight tangent here. Must the rebuilt Temple be a physical structure? David knew no structure could possibly contain God. How large can a building possibly be built. Therefore the structure is only an image of the true Temple. The first Temple was built to house the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark itself is a metaphor. I really don’t think there was a gold crate containing a magic stick, an old piece of moldy bread and two rocks with words on them. Therefore we would need a metaphorical Temple to house the metaphorical contents.

The list was first of all, the prophesy itself. It was written that Messiah would fulfill the criteria outlined in the prophesy. How is context an issue? Do you mean that because it wasn't fulfilled the way the Pharisees said it should be, then it can't be true?

The other part of the list is how Jesus fulfilled the prophesy. How did he fail?

How did he choose the town where he was to be born?
How could he choose the tribe?
How did he choose a "maiden" as his mother?
How did he perform miracles? (Even the Pharisees did not dispute his supernatural powers.)
How did he choose the manner and details of his death?

The list is very extensive so I wanted to know how it can be said that Jesus failed to fulfill a single prophesy?

What are Jews expecting Messiah to do that will be more than what Jesus did?
