Which Religion would you be if any besides your own?

I'll begin. I'm Kemetic Orthodox, and happy being, but at this point, if I could be any other religion- Arab Pagan reconstruct, Sanatan Dharma, or Zoroastrianism.

You?

As far as I know, my 'religious' path is the only one I am suited for. I love mythology but I am just not wired to take claims, especially extraordinary ones, on faith.

I love Buddhism, but if I could snap my fingers and make myself believe, I'd make myself Christian.

Interesting Anne. If I were to go back to any of the Abrahamic religions it'd probably be Reform Judaism at this point. Hey, at least then I'd be acting like a Jew, LOL.

Sikhism, Buddhism (any path of Buddhism), Taoism or Zoroastrianism, or even Ásatrú (Norse Paganism). :D

I don't consider Judaism my religion yet, so I'd say that.

Other wise, Sikhism has some very interesting beliefs.

And what exactly is your philosophy? Satanism? Setianism? Thelema?
Satanism. I think the idea of deity is a useful concept from a psychological standpoint, but I also think believing in things that aren't there is psychologically unhealthy. I am my own god, with the continuing goal of aligning my subjective universe with the objective universe.

Having finally chosen Buddhism less than three years ago, it seems odd to be thinking of an alternate choice. But I suppose some form of Sanatana Dharma or Taoism, probably the former. Taoism, at least the sort I care for, is elusive and hard to grasp, while Sanatana Dharma has a rich iconography and liturgical practices that hold great appeal for me.

Having gained a little distance -- and with it perspective -- I've realized that even when I was a Christian it was more about practice than belief for me, and that was a big part of why I found Eastern Christianity more appealing than Western. Which is not to say I'm not prepared to argue the procession of the Holy Spirit or the two natures of Christ regardless of whether I believe in either. :)

There's something very appealing to me about Asatru. If I were going to be a pagan, that's what I'd be.

I don't know much about Asatru, admittedly. The deities I've had a draw to besides the Egyptian ones are the Greek and Hindu ones. I'll admit I felt a slight tug from Odin one time though.

Same here.

I'm not sure why that is, though: is it some kind of genetic attraction because ancestors used to venerate them, because there is more information on them and we are surrounded by them in some way (Thursday = Thor's day and all that), or because they are just awesome in general? :D

Odion there are as many gods as sands on a beach. We all serve the ones we serve for our own reason. The Aesir would be just as good as the Devas. Why do you serve the devas? If you think the Aesir would resignate with you more, that's the path you should follow. There's no reason you couldn't still honor the devas on the side. I still honor Lord Ganesha

I don't think genetics has much to do with what deities you serve. I'm certainly not Egyptian, LOL. If I were to serve a deity based on my genes, I'd serve the Jewish god.

That's not quite what I mean, though, it's is there is an attraction because of genetic heritage? It's a theory I've heard, similar to ancestral DNA-memories and such. I find it quite an interesting idea, but not entirely satisfying.

It seems like a more... naturalistic way to explain why some people are drawn to other deities or something. It's not something I believe in personally, though.

Although, how do you know you don't have any Egyptian DNA somewhere down the line? ;)

Hehe, I know what you mean - follow those whom you love most. Personally, they don't resonate with me more than the devas, although I do like them. Devas, Boddhisattvas, Zoroastrian Yazatas, then the Æsir, and that excludes which organised religions I'm attracted to - just the entities. :D

if God would not offer a nice path for me then i would take death as my guide, love as my company and anyone who smiles back at me as my brother. these are still part of my path though

Tricky, but I think I would chose either Hinduism or Judaism.

I grew up Jewish, some say you never lose the 'jewishness' but I haven't really followed it in a few years.
