you can do the high tech job
or go on welfare

that is where we are headed

and the tech jobs are still being sent out overseas
it's cheaper to have other countries do the tech

sooner than later
the influx of population will over run the low tech opportunities

the high end jobs will disappear
overseas

America is an economically based society
the race card will destroy this economy

so...…………..
we need to stop being racist
and everyone needs to earn his own keep

but the opportunities are disappearing

and it remains.....
someone has to work the fields
and THOSE jobs are also disappearing

sooner than you think
EVERYONE will demand a paycheck
and the gov won't have the money

and your color won't matter

It looks to me that it is a problem with privileged whites complaining because their precious capitalism isn't working for them any longer.

Maybe, instead of sitting back and complaining that other people are getting the jobs, people need to actually allow job creation and innovation *here*. And that will include allowing *everyone* to get loans for new businesses, getting an education to learn the latest technologies, not expecting to have the same job your grandfather had, and not blaming others when things go south.

I guess it would depend on how one defines "America." If we're talking about the United States of America, then that was created in 1776 and defined within the context of early British settlement and colonization. The Spanish and French were also white Europeans, although their settlements and colonies were considered outside of the domain of the British colonists. They didn't really count as "American" history until they were annexed and absorbed into British or U.S. territory.

One historical point that often gets overlooked is that, just after Columbus' first voyage to America, a papal bull was issued in 1493, which essentially gave all land of the Americas (most of which hadn't even been mapped yet) to Spain. So, if you want split hairs and get stuck on technicalities, then one could say that God stole the land on behalf of Spain, or at least, that's how people might have seen it back then. A few centuries later, Americans hit upon the idea of "Manifest Destiny," which essentially says that it was all due to "God's will."
I am thinking of those who were there before white man arrived in what we now know as America

Yea, as far as I can tell, Whiteness is only tangentially related to skin color., and over the course of decades or centuries, ethnic groups seem to flip from being nonwhite to white or vice versa. Just look at the history of Jewish people or people from the Middle East in 20th century America. As far as I know, the first Spanish speaking Mexicans in American history were considered White, too.

I can't remember where I read it, but I seem to recall that a few Nonwhite people also tend to more closely identify with being White when they become affluent and integrate into a more middle class or upper community.

The question is then, why does a certain skin colour represent a certain class? And it is also relative. A very weird concept.

There is also a weird thing in Apartheid South Africa, in which the Japanese were classified as white, whereas the chinese were classified as coloured. Makes no sense. In America they were both yellow (I have no idea where this idea comes from).

They estimate by the year 2050 white Americans will make up the minority of the population. Feel free to share your thoughts on this.
I don't see "White America" - I just see "America" and beyond that - just people since color is only skin deep and is just varying amounts of melanin.

Then my children have a problem... I'm German, Spanish and Italian, my wife is Venezuelan Indian, black, latin and perhaps some oriental judging by her eyes,

so... what is my children's skin deep color?

There are a lot more interracial and mixed marriages occuring (especially since it is more welcome now) which I think is a contributing factor. NG did an article about 4-5 years ago about this very same thing.
Agreed.

Images of projected “average” American in 2050...

...and here’s the article from which I gratuitously stole these images.
Striking Photos That Show What The Average American Will Look Like In 2050 - Unbelievable Facts
...And they in turn were reviewing the 125th anniversary issue of National Geographic, which @The Hammer mentioned.

I would also point out that I am a classic tall white (German/Dutch) white man, but my kids are mixed (white/asian), and I know many other mixed couples in our town. ;):)
If you take this societal drift as a bad thing, then you are simply wrong. Genetically, societally, economically, and in every way, you are wrong.

Wasn't america non white from the beginning
So must have been a white problem from the very beginning:confused:

So technically colored man take back what white man stole before they created "america"
Says the guy whose great great great great great great grandpappy
killed off the neanderthals while boinking their women. (I know cuz
I've scanned your DNA.)
It appears that all places are occupied by some powerful group who
displaced a weaker one. Giving up what one has is a nice dream,
but it'll never happen. The best we humans can do is improve
relations with each other where we are. I'm not moving.

I doubt that will happen.
I've known too many people who aren't counted in the census as white,
but actually are. They look & function as white folk, but claim to be
hispanic or amerindian because of some ancestral percentage.

I think a lot of it was done rather arbitrarily. I recall that they used to use a "paper bag test" in that if someone's skin tone was darker than that of a paper bag, they were not considered "white."

I remember someone who was 1/8 black ("octoroon"), and she was really upset because (Louisiana) state documents listed her as "black," even though she appeared "white." When you hear about things like this, it just gets all the more confusing.

Wait...you're claiming 'white' represents a certain level of education, dress standards and work ethic???

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
What I find weird about the question is that it is based on skin colour alone. If we take skin colour out of it, most of Americans are already mixed race. The fact that people focus on skin colour to define race seems very arbitrary to me. And the definition of skin colour isn't even accurate.

I mean even the Irish were discriminated against when they went to America by other people with a similar range of skin colour.
The current idea of "white" is only 60-70 years old. Once upon a time a lot of people who today consider themselves white would once have been viciously discriminated against by people who previously were considered white. Italians, Irish, many Eastern Europeans and Mediterranean Europeans, used to be regarded as just as non-white as "people of colour" today. The fact that a lot of today's white supremacists come from backgrounds that would once have been considered non-white is pretty ironic.
