The confusion is on your part alone.
That must be why the Shia-Sunni split happened almost before Muhammad died, then.
And why it only got worse since.
Islam is the only religion acceptable to GOD, the fundamental core beliefs are found in other religions, with those adhering to them amongst the successful in the hereafter.
So the doctrine goes.
You can't in good faith expect me to find that convincing, though.
I stand surprised that there are people who apparently do find it convincing. I long for the day when accurate measures of the effect of peer pressure and other factors that might help explain that can be made.
Despite this, we ALL come from the last Adam and Eve pbut, as such we are to be tolerant, respectful and good to one another regardless of religion, race or creed. Those hoping to gain GOD's mercy in the hereafter are reminded in this life to forgive others, show mercy and compassion, even in the most testing of circumstances:
Of course, that amounts to needlessly complicating and even confusing matters of basic ethics by inserting unnecessary, often troublesome god-concepts and afterlife beliefs into fairly self-evident directives.
