Who was the most influential person to walk the earth?

This is not to debate the greatness and influence of Jesus (p), who influenced my choice for most influential person ever.

The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s) started the closest thing to ever exist that could be called the "Kingdom of God" that Jesus (p) spoke of, had the power of a Caesar and Pope as well as the influence of a Prophet and ruled justly, letting all religions of the day co-exist as long as they didn't break peace treaties (which happened to the early Muslims a lot, people would make peace only to gain a tactical advantage but it failed miserably) and working men pay a tax, Muslims also had to pay a tax that may have been less but it worked and kept the peace.

Within 200 years of his (Mohammed s.a.w.s) death Islam ruled from Spain and N. Africa to China and India's borders, rivalling the once glorious (before Constantine ruined it) Roman Empire in every way, surpassed it in many others.

Europe plunged into the Dark Ages at the same time Muslim Spain was a thriving cosmopolitan area with schools, hospitals, a metropolis of peacefulness that had Cordoba as a jewel of a city as its most important, Europe that is.

Jews weren't persecuted and Christian, Sabaean, Magian(Parsee) all lived with them wherever they existed together in the Islamic Empire.

And it was not a "by the sword" conquest-made Empire, its success was due to Diplomacy and strength, a tolerant system with equitable laws for men and women (Islam) that believes "there is no compulsion in religion" because the Qur'an says so, literally and word for word.

People converted if they wanted and most did but not all, Islam was enough like Judaism, Christianity and even Zoroastrianism that conversion was not a huge change and Islam is easy to practice but has Sufism and other sects with more complex teachings and practices if you wish.

For the time it existed, from the Prophet (s.a.w.s) until the Crusades of yesterday and today's bombings of civilians, before propaganda successfully turned the more gullible against Islam and making it synonymous with evil by fundamentalist fanatics.

And maybe even still:

Mohammed (s.a.w.s) is the most influential person in history.

For the better.

Mohammed murdered Jews at the Battle of the Ditch because they would not support his claim as a prophet of God. M's followers spread the Muslim faith through invasion, pillage and executing those who refused to accept Islam.

Tis time to add more quotes from non Muslims to support my nominee, the Apostle of God, Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s).

Annie Besant (Theosophist, author) "The Life and Teachings of Mohammed" Madras, 1932

" It is impossible for anyone who studies the life and character of the great Prophet of Arabia, who knew how he taught and how he lived, to feel ANYTHING BUT REVERENCE for that mighty Prophet, one of the great messengers of the Supreme. And although in what I put to you I shall say many things which may be familiar to many, yet I myself feel, whenever I reread them, a new way of admiration, a new sense of reverence for that mighty Arabian teacher.

Well said Madam Besant, well said. Of course a fundamentalist Christian will just say, "You can't trust a Theosophist" if they know what one is.

But that is their (in general) opinion of everyone who is not of their ilk. They at least we're at one time, Besant's time, respected scholars of religion.

People have to literally lie to say something negative about Mohammed or rely on unreliable data, even some unreliable Hadiths that some sects use, some do not, and use slander, relying upon the ignorance of people who are not educated in the life of Mohammed (s.a.w.s) or the history of Islam and its role in lifting Europe out of the Dark Ages with the sciences they collected from all over the world, perfected and in many cases invented outright.

The same scientific knowledge and philosophy that was ridiculed and rejected by early Church Fathers and later ones were worse. Stuck in an age ofe ignorance and poverty with only the memory of a once great Roman Empire and little else, the Pope and the Monarchs conspired to wage war in the infamous Crusades.

For financial and territorial gain, Europe plundered its way to Jerusalem and literally slaughtered its inhabitants, men, women and children, to the last. Muslim, Jew and even Asian Christians (mistakenly or not) were victims of genocide in "the name of 'Christ' " so they said.

Saladin would take back Jerusalem and ultimately Europe had little impact on the prosperity of the great Islamic 'Empire.'

When he took it back he allowed the Catholics to stay, and it was interactions with Muslims that allowed Europeans to learn what the Muslims had and eventually you have the Intellectual Renaissance because of it.

W.C. Taylor "The History of Mohammedanism(sic) and its sect."

" So great was his liberality to the poor that he often left his household unprovided, nor did he content himself with relieving their wants, he entered into conversation with them, and expressed a warm sympathy for their sufferings. He was a firm friend and a faithful Allie."

Kind words. I will not be surprised if someone criticizes Mohammed (s.a.w.s.) for his charity because his family had to endure without certain things.

They certainly didn't regret it or criticize him for it, it is exactly the opposite, his family was also known to go without & for even prisoners of war so they could eat, notably, Khadija (may God be pleased with her) would give them her food. And they were always treated fairly, if from a well off family they could be 'ransomned' (how many families of POW's today wish they could have that option) or work off their sentence and be set free.

Women of the slain in war enemies would be provided for as well, by the victors. You don't see this today.

Today a bomb is dropped from the sky by Russia or US on the houses of innocent civilians daily who if they survive have to flee and are still labeled "terrorists" because, well because they are Muslim and some people aren't too bright. They believe the lies of evil people who want them to think this so it seems justified, but you can't justify never ending war caused by Western aggression and from Russia, never ending war caused by Russia and America fighting in Syria on opposite sides, Assad is fine, the county, not so much. And Trump's administration has connections to Russia, pre election, and not just business relationships with Russian entrepreneurs, Trump has a man crush on Putin and was not shy about it during the campaign at all showering him with praise and calling him someone he admires.

I almost get why people ignore much truth for more lies, nobody who didn't already know wants to know that they are decieved daily by the government and its propaganda arm the media.

But it is not an excuse for parroting lies. No matter who they come from or how many people believe them because it's hard to tell sometimes, everyone has a responsibility to find out the truth in the age of information if they are going to open their mouths about other cultures, and that involves learning the lies going back to the first Europeans to slander Islam and the Evangelist fanatics who use it today as "history."

Lies are never history,

Considering that Muslims vastly outnumber Christians worldwide it appears that the prophet Mohammed beats Jesus in this numbers game. In terms of how many people's lives they affected, I'd say it would be a toss up between Stalin and Hitler with the Austrian with the ridiculous moustache winning based on the number of humans killed, wounded, bereaved, displaced or otherwise negatively impacted by the actions of one man. When it comes to who has done the most good for the greatest number of people it would be another tossup, between Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela with Mandela winning because of the number of people in the world who still view him as a good role model.

Mohammed (s.a.w.s) never had anybody murdered or committed murder.
You don't know this because you only know what His followers passed down. Lots of the things He is known for suggest that He was quite willing and able to use violence to get His way. 1400 years later there is no way to know differently.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Or possibly whoever weaponized gunpowder. The advantage such weapons gave the European Christians over all other cultures might be the single most influential advantage any culture has ever had.

Harnessing fire. I can see that.

I am surprised no one mentioned Christopher Columbus. Lost though he may have been, and as controversial as his legacy may be, the world would be vastly different had he not discovered America. It allowed for the expansion of western civilization into the Western Hemisphere.

Technically the Vikings found America. Leif Erikson.

You guys will especially love this quote about the Prophet (s.a.w.s)!!!

Reverend Bosworth Smith in "Muhammed and Muhammedanism(sic)" London, 1874

"Head of the State as well as the Church, he was Caesar and Pope in one; but he was Pope without the Pope's pretensions, and Caesar without the legions of Caesar, without a standing army, without a bodyguard, without a police force, without a fixed revenue. If ever a man ruled by a right Divine, it was Muhammad, for he had all the powers without the supports. He cared not for the dressings if power. The simplicity of his private life was in keeping with his public life.

"In Mohammedanism (sic) everything is different here. Instead of the shadowy and the mysterious, we have history...We know of the external history of Muhammad...While for his internal history after his mission had been proclaimed, we have a book absolutely unique in its origin, in its preservation...on the substantial authority of which no one has ever been able to cast a serious doubt."

Well spoken Reverend Bosworth Smith, and true.

I guess not every Reverend was afraid of the truth about Mohammed (s.a.w.s) and I don't know much about this Rev. but I am going to find out right now. God bless him.

Salaam!

Just to clarify, Reverend Reginald Bosworth Smith was a highly educated Christian who maintained the superiority of his faith, nevertheless was prayed for in Mosques for some time for his honest reporting of facts and is regarded as an honest historian in the West too.
