Who's the Most Famous Person You Know or Knew?

Skwim

Veteran Member
Preferably this would be on a first name basis, but even a handshake of mutual recognition will qualify.

The most famous person I knew is probably the late Dave Margulies, who played the accountant Larry Goldie in the movie All That Jazz, the doctor in Ace Ventra Pet Detective, Harvey in 9 1/2 Weeks, the mayor in the Ghost Busters movies, and in many TV shows including Tony's lawyer Neil Mink in the Sopranos.

I know someone who went to school with Jerry Garcia but that's too far to really count. Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin at a demonstration back in the day would be closest but without a handshake.

well, "locally known" or "known in field" including a number of politicians, sports figures, and other miscellaneous celebrities, but no one with national or international cache. And I'm pretty sure none of them would recall me now.

One of my favorites was Kevin Duckworth, 7-0 and close to 300 lbs, who played center for EIU and later the Portland Trailblazers. I took a picture of him dunking the ball (at EIU), with his shoe taking up a good portion of the frame...he landed on top of me a fraction of a second later. He'd say "hi" and ask if I was still okay every game after that...

Another fun one was getting to take pictures of Burl Ives, of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer fame. He was also an EIU alum.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
The closest was Rick James. Looong time ago. He was my cousin's neighbor (Few doors away) who had visited Rick at his house on occasions although I never met him personally, but it's the closest I've came to anyone of mass recognition but I missed the opportunity to meet him myself.

I played ping pong once with Kevin McHale:

His reach gave him an unreal advantage. And sadly he looks old in that six year old picture. I wonder what I look like:(

And I waited on Prince once when he came to the 24 hour joint I worked at in my youth. After playing a local venue before he hit the big time, but after everyone in Minneapolis knew he was going places.

I had a friend in college who knew a guy whose mother went to the same laundromat as Jello Biafra's mother.

True story.

I've also dined in the Senate dining room in Washington with the likes of Bob Dole and John Glenn, but I doubt if they would have recognized me a week later.

I dated a gal who worked in real estate and was part of a team of agents working with Donald Trump on a property deal in Phoenix, but that was a good ten years before he became a political figure.

John Congleton is my Facebook friend.

Way back in the day, I played Dungeons and Dragons with Gary Gygax. That means my Gygax number is 0. Beat that, nerds. (If you don't know what Dungeons and Dragons is, get out from under your rock. And Gary Gygax was the man mostly credited with creating D&D)
I also met Billie Joe Armstrong when he was on the Revolution Radio tour. That was awesome.

I used to train in martial arts with Chuck Norris's stunt double, Chip Wright. The training kind of sucked and so did I.

I am a distant relative of Gary Gygax (some kind of great grand uncle or something), but I never actually met him.

I have no idea what this is, can you explain? Unless you meant a non-disclosure agreement. *Whispers* and if you did, then tell us. They'll never find out.;)

Well that actually could be true and no one would know it.!!

I kinda suspected you were. It's empirical fact that that famous people, are nutty and your posts fit that profile. Not that there is, anything wrong with that!!

Actually I am kidding just to clarify...on the famous part that is. Ha!!! Kidding I just needed a lame excuse. to put the gif in.

Can't say I've ever known anyone famous, but my brother did go to school with the band members of MXPX.

Also, my group of friends knew this mysterious lady in the Ellensburg foothills we called "the crazy mountain lady" who was friends with Kevin Costner. He would come and visit her log cabin and stay from time to time. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to meet him myself. o_O

Yes .... Well I can say that the NDS was not like the Stormy Daniels NDS with Donald Trump.Ha!!!

I never signed an NDS with Eddie but I wouldn't say much beyond he is a very very cool dude. It's like I don't say much about clients.

I got to meet with and talk with Jane Goodall when I was younger. That was one of the highlights of my teen years.

Cancer man from the X-Files was a client of mine before and during the shooting of the X-Files. Great guy and... a non-smoker.
